20ish years of averaging close to 30ppg is an astounding accomplishment in itself.. but the 10 finals appearances set him so far from the competition in points it’s unbeatable imo. And he’s still going, with little sign of slowing down.

Best takeaway for me is Kyle Korver. I think, as fans, we dont realize enough the work that he put in to be on the top, night after night, year after year during his carreer. Like 20 years of greatness for sure.

I'm a magic & Lakers fan when i started playing basketball. When MJ came he made the NBA became global. I don't really like ball hogs but 2 3-peats the hype the swagger the highlights and the shoes, I also want to be like Mike. Strong case vs Kareem being the 🐐. When MJ retired i started to appreciate his greatness even more. Then came LeBron and all the hype and expectations. I never liked him from the start comparing him to be the next MJ i didnt like it at all. and just like MJ he slowly gained my respect with the style of his game (pass first). His freeakish athletisicm, the way he continuously developed his game, his endurance & longetivity through his work ethic & discipline, the level of competition and the way he adapt for 3 decades. The level of scrutiny and hate he had to endure specially today's age of social media. He surpassed it all. You can tell it by his stats, advance metrics, diff accolades, records being broken and great players he surpassed and being able to do it the right way in and out of the court. That's why for me he is the 🐐. And after he is done we will surely miss his greatness.

He was able to mold himself to the ever changing NBA game and is always tuned into to the opponents weakness. Every year he gets better and his availability might be one of his greatest assets. You are absolutely right. Comparing eras is doing a disservice to the all-time greats, because the game is in a constant state of evolution. There would be no Showtime Lakers without Bill Russell’s Celtics becoming popular enough to out compete other leagues for talent. There is no 1990s expansion era without the Showtime Lakers & Magic literally saving the league from bankruptcy, and making every single team profitable for the first time in the NBA’s history through shared Lakers merchandise sales.
We also don’t get today’s worldwide talent era, without the expansion era creating enough spots for teams to take a risk on Giannis-type international prospects.

There are countless others dating back to 2003-2004 (LeBron’s rookie year) who throughout LeBron’s career were in their primes that LeBron had to compete against during regular seasons and playoffs. These names and others are/were LeBron’s competition while LeBron was playing as “THEE” or “A” top player in the league for the past 20 consecutive NBA Seasons. The man’s greatness is proven against legendary competitors…and the man didn’t take seasons off to load manage and return recharged to a team that was so great that it remained in championship contention in his absence.
Jordan retired this same yr in march.
I never seen a player as consistent for 20 years. Only player in sports I can think of who did for the 20 years like LeBron is Cristiano Ronaldo.

Roger Federer is equal in so many ways. Championship records, highly respected athlete in his sport for decades, the BAR of so many fundamental skills, family man, healthy for long stretches, a gentleman more often than not.

Only thing I make LeBron great in my book he gives back to the people his own people and to his hometown and it's always about the kids man and my eyes kids are the future of the world no matter what race you are what nation you from if they know kids they ain't no life so that's why I said LeBron is the greatest of all time and I'm a Kobe fan to the fullest nobody can't tell me or tell my mind about my main man ever but while abroad has brought to the game it's untouchable bro greatest of all-time stature
Its especially impressive, being lebron grew up in a single mother. Im referencing how he is such a great family man(well at least from everything we see).
So sad now. When you start something you really never know what you gonna be saying on your way out. Lebron is lucky because his longevity has beaten that feeling of letting go and instead has truly truly truly enjoyed his career for how long and successful it has been

two of the things that go understated about lebron and that we will talk about when he is gone are his stewardship for the whole game of basketball and the young players, and the ridiculous basketball iq. the guy remembers plays like a computer. it's a sight to see in the press conferences when he can recite an entire play from memory. most guys can't do that. it's something he's worked on and comes from his experience in teh game, but it's also a gift from god. most people don't process and hold information on that level while they're engaged in a sport. lebron can play with a dude once and know what he's got, how fast he is and if he can close the gap, how high he gets and how long he is, how well he shoots, etc. then it's in his brain for good, and he's exploiting it.
