I bought a new 2021 TRD off road with 6' bed, premium and technology packages in October of 2020. I have had zero issues and love the truck. I added the OTT mild/medium tune 3 years in with about 30K miles. That was the best $500 ever spent. It completely transformed the truck into a responsive, quick, and fun to drive vehicle. Highly recommend.

Good video! Couldn't agree more. I still love my 23' Taco (exact same model, package and colour as yours). It's been 17mos now and not a single complaint. Same as you, that one axle nut recall was the only "issue" that needed to be taken care of since I've had it. I do all the regular maintenance on it myself and that's been too easy. I'm still debating on the OTT tune as I'm not a fan of the gear hunting, especially while using cruise control and/or towing the quad. I did a 2600km trip over a month ago and I was comfortable (I'm 6'3", 200lbs). I've also paid it off so I'll be driving it into the ground. Cheers!

I feel the same way about my 2013 Toyota Tacoma TRD OFF-ROAD 4x4! I replaced the infotainment on mine with a brand new Pioneer system that comes with Navigation, DVD player and MOST IMPORTANTLY wireless Apple CarPlay! They did such a good job putting that in that it looks completely factory installed. Lifetime support incase of any future updates, makes it drive like it should have from the factory!! I only WISH I could have the long bed!! Not a big fan of sunroofs, in so Cal, weatherstripping and seals tend to shrink and crack, causing leaks that I can do without plus the sun comes straight through even when the shade is closed, you could feel the heat radiating from a sunroof.. I also agree about the plastic scratching and feeling cheap.. I think Toyota could have done a better job in that area. Canadian TRD Sport DCLB 4x4. Made in Texas. Wanted the off road in a 6’ bed as well. Not available here in Canada.
Love the 7 way power adjustable drivers seat.
Agreed, 6’ bed is a must have.
Screen Pro Protect for the gauge cluster. First mod I did. Can wipe gauge cluster with no issues.
OTT Tune. Best mod. I’m picky and cautious with my truck. Been great!
Black interior. I vacuum and then damp wipe with a little neutral ph car wash soap my interior plastics. Then apply with a microfibre cloth, Meguiar's Quik Interior Detailer Cleaner. Interior Looks brand new after.
Whistle noise is normal. A/C related. My 2020 has done it since day one. My wife finds it endearing. No operational issues with A/C.
Truck just turned 4 years and no issues.

Here in the USA with the 2 pkgs that I have is basically a Limited Edition with the Off Road suspension system.
The only thing I Hate about my truck is the Black interior. The leather is nice and because we live in the mountains and we go off roading my interior is always dirty.
So I reached out to Katzkin and had them make me Tan leather seat covers with black trim and red stitching.
They removed the black leather seat covers and replaced them with what I ordered.
Tan interior shows a Lot less dirt than that nasty black.

My package included view cameras to check side distances when close to objects and the cross warning has saved me many times from hitting pedestrians or cars going 35 MPH in a parking lot when trying to back out. I like the looks of the Predator steps and even added the factory bed step...my most useful "bolt on" addition (IMHO). Averaging 22-24 MPG! I still get lots of compliments and most are surprised by how well equiped it is...including the remarks on the sunroof. The color is to die for except one day I pulled into a Target lot and a car full of "not citizens" began running away from the car next to me...the border patrol hasn't used that color for decades, however, with my Veteran plates with a medal pictured on it too, they may have thought I was someone to avoid LOL? I’m in north central WA state.

I can give you his contact number and perhaps y’all can meet at the border so you can have him do your Tune.
There’s a small mountain that I have to go over to get to Wenatchee, WA USA (40 minutes from our house). Before the OTT my transmission would downshift from 6th in 4th, then up shift, then down shift again.
Since I had the OTT, my truck down shifts into 5th and stays in 5th when I’ve got the cruise control set on 67mph.
Even though the OTT gives 25 more horsepower and 25 more lb ft of torque and with the cold air intake I’m getting 1-3 mpg Better fuel economy.
I had to go to Montana in May to look at some properties and I was going to have Isaac do the Tune in Bonnors Ferry but he met me in Ritzville (1/2 way between our house and Spokane) a month before we went to MT.
He charged me $450 for the Tune.
Also the gas pedal has no lag time.
A friend of mine Always puts his 23 TRD in ETC mode because he needs the transmission to hold the gears longer in Seattle traffic. But now the Isaac has Tuned his truck, he doesn’t have to put it into ECT mode.
The Tune is worth every penny and I do Highly Recommended it.
It’s hard on the transmission to keep shifting all the time.
Another thing, I drive 8-10K miles per year so I change my oil every 6 months or 5K miles.
When my truck hits 30K miles I’ll have the front and rear differentials, transfer case and transmission fluid changed. Toyota recommends it every 60K miles but in the late spring through late fall we’re always taking it off roads in dusty forest and service roads. We also use our truck for the light duty work around our property.
      You’re 100% right about the 6’ bed.
For some reason people here in America want the Useless 5’ bed and the 6’ beds are very hard to find.
I was looking for either a White, Barcelona Red or Lunar rock.
Mine was a “leftover” and I bought it on 2/29/24. The dealership had owned it for 8 months. I asked them why it hadn’t sold and it was because everyone wanted a 5’ bed.
They wanted to sell me a new 24 Tacoma but 1, I’ll never buy a vehicle that’s a new redesigned one and 2, I’ve owned 2 Turbo’s and I’ll NEVER EVER buy anything with a Turbo engine. Historically they simply don’t last as long as a Naturally Aspirated engine.
My 11 RAV Limited 4WD never gave me any trouble. It had the same 3.5L V6 that I have in my Tacoma.
Last May when we were heading to Billings, Montana, after getting down from the Continental Divide on I-90, I had my cruise set on 82mph and I was getting 23.9mpg.
When I’m flying low at 98mph I only get about 16-18mpg.
I know that if I hadn’t had the Tune and the cold air intake my fuel efficiency would be around 18-19mpg.

@@TRDTalk Yeah, I just went with the Mild.
We’re an older couple now so we mainly use my TRD for work around our property, hauling topsoil, gravel, firewood, etc.
We live in the mountains and often we go up another mountain to get what we need for landscaping.
This spring we took the truck up on part of the WA BDR and came across an area where a company had harvested some Douglas Fir trees and removed the bark.
We’ve made several trips up to get the bark for landscaping.
We put down “Weed Barrier”, then put our drip system on top of the Barrier and the bark on top of everything. It’s too steep to mow and I’ve got a bad shoulder so using the Weed Eater is getting more painful every year. Now that we’ve installed the Barrier, drip system and the Bark, it’ll be maintenance free.
I need 3 more loads to complete the section I’m working on now and next year I’ll be doing the same thing in our orchard and I’ve been building short retaining walls and back filling so we can have level ground to walk on between our flat raised garden beds.
Our custom built house was finished in September of 19, so we’ve been busy building retaining walls into the side of our mountain for our veggie gardens.
In a couple of years we’ll have 1/3 of an acre finished and then we’ll start building larger retaining walls in the rear of our house and just plant trees and shrubs. But those bricks will be the 84# bricks so we’ll have to hire some strong men from our local Mission House. I hire a team of 2 men now to do some of the work that my body won’t allow me to do any longer.
Now back to the OTT. Look them up on line to see if you have an installer in your area. I’m sure there will be someone in the USA that can meet you at the border.
Above us is British Columbia. We’re 1/2 way between Seattle and Spokane.
My friend who had the OTT installed that use to put his 23 TRD into ETC chose the “Spicy” setting.
His truck looks Exactly like yours. We have some neighbors that own 2 TRD’s. Both of them are the worthless 5’ beds. The wife’s is Lunar Rock and his is dark charcoal grey.
Another neighbor is having a 23 SR shipped to him from the east coast.
I’d like to buy his current 99 SR5 4WD. It has the 2.7L 4banger with a 5spd manual. It’s an access cab long bed with 197K miles and he’s asking $8K. He’s an absolute maintenance guy like me and his 99 still runs like new.
Our money is tied up in investments so I can’t touch it for a few more months, but if we had the $8K I’d buy it for sure.
He also has almost completed restoring a 1923 Nash.
He’s older than me and is tired of driving a stick.
It’d be a good off roader and good for getting everything that I’m using my TRD for now.
Another friend of mine is having Isaac install the Tune on his 19 TRD.
I have an appointment with our pastor next month and I’ll be recommending that he too gets the Tune on his 22 Limited.
Since you work from home and I don’t think that you hot rod your TRD, I’d recommend the Mild setting. You’ll have to get comfortable with the throttle response as when you start to go, it’s instant and No Lagging. The OTT was worth every penny to me.
I enjoy the extra 25 horsepower and the 25 lb ft of torque at 2,300RPM a LOT better than the stock 3,800RPM. I also enjoy 1-3 mpg Better fuel economy and as mentioned the throttle response. And Not having the transmission “hunt” for the right gear is priceless. The constant up shifting and down shifting was annoying.
Everyone that I know who has a 3rd gen Tacoma complains about the transmission’s endless shifts.
