    The whole message of this album was to represent them beginning to conquer their depression yet still struggle with it even tho they are both sober. They made this song as a statement that they still CAN make the same style of music as they did in 2015 if they wanted to. BUT, they dont because theyre at a different and less depressing stage in their lives so they want to reflect that in this new album instead of “relapsing” back to their old ways/music.

    I saw it as the lyrics being based more on their emotions back in 2015. but I love the positive outlook you spin on it
    Great video and amazing song :)

  • @kzxxt
    @kzxxt 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    The beginning of this song “still boasting my emotions, now coping while fucking dopeless” was a reference to the line in Kill Yourself pt 3 “always boasting my emotions on how I’m so fucking broken” they are now sober so hence the “coping while fucking dopeless” the entire song is a reference to how they’ve evolved as they’ve gotten sober and how they don’t make music like they did in 2015.

    • @kzxxt
      @kzxxt 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The line “shoutout to my girl I know loving me is a challenge” is about Scrim’s new girlfriend and how he’s in a healthy relationship (he even says he wants a kid with her in another song:) Ruby’s verse is about how he’s struggling with sobriety and with depression in general even though they are sober (ruby still smokes pot though). Ruby is also very stubborn hence the “I ain’t gon back down, I ain’t gon lash out, i
      Guarantee ill have some more” he knows that even though he’s sober and can’t do it, if he relapsed he wouldn’t be able to stop

    One thing I should point out is that this track is full of derision for their fanbase that want them to return to that super drugged out sound they used to have. It’s incredibly funny to me because it’s actual self-parody. They literally ask their audiences during live shows who liked their old sound, and then proceed to say, “Fuck you.” What’s crazy though is how many people took this song seriously and actually were able to find hope in it.

    Another great vid, sorry for missing em here n there lol.
    But to me this album is them saying we're done with that phase, were sober and shit CAN get better you just have to take action like therapy for long-term happiness vs a drugs short term happiness.
    This song in particular I think was made for all the $B fans whining that they changed or whatever, because when they were using heavy the music was different.
    The thing is, they're still the same people, just with a lot more life experience, shit they've been doing this since like 2012 right? People change.
    Personally, I'm all for it. I got into $B in 2015 when I was first getting into drugs and I'll admit yeah they glorified drugs in some songs (opana is prob a good example lol) but the thing is, I've grown with them and changed too. I used hard drugs for 4 years daily just to function, got clean just before long term effects of suffering released. Then I relapsed (current) and this new album is giving me hope that I CAN get out of this cycle if I work at it enough. I just wanna find a psychologist/psychiatrist(?) I can fully trust and feel comfortable with, it's a scary feeling opening up to a stranger.
    It's scary for me to even relive some of my own memories just by thinking of them, I'm terrified to actually talk about them because for one I'd prob just be sobbing cause I just bottle everything up "like a man should" (lol) and for 2, I don't wanna feel judged or like I'm lesser for the things I've done and the trauma I've been thru.
    So thanks for your videos, whether you believe it or not I'm going to get help this time and not try to do it alone. It's just so overwhelming for me I freeze, but I'm gonna make myself do it cause I need it.
    If you made it this far seriously I appreciate you (and whoever's helping behind the scenes) and your videos.

    What show did you get to see? I'm sorry if it's common knowledge on this channel, I just found you though and haven't heard yet.
    I had listened to this whole album lots before seeing them in Charlotte NC 2022, but one day in July it played and literally felt like I was only just hearing it for the first time! And it wasn't even the beginning! For some reason that day I , through no effort of my own, started tuning in when he spoke "heart it to my girl I know that loving me's a challenge". Immediately made me think of what I've put my husband through over the decades. Not so much in the self reflective way that would be beneficial lol but mostly because he absolutely is no way a fan, he actually gets an extremely frustrated look on his face when they're brought up. I guess I thought if I could find a song he might relate to, that....welp, I really don't know what I thought might be accomplished... Feeling less judged possibly.
    Sorry again, probably not the first novel I'm going to leave at comments tonight lol
    I can't sleep, too excited for the show!

      Ghost mane probably doesn't have the greatest vibe/lyric dissection potential :/
      Due to... You know... All the screaming and heavy ass bass.. Not saying Ghostie is bad.. Just, probably not the best stuff for a therapist to comment on

    I know I'm going to say it again, but you need to try and get in touch with the $Bs and get an interview. That would be so awesome.
