I have a C&R license but they do not require it from my understanding for an M1 Garand; however, for the M1911A1 they will require it be sent to a local FFL and they will not ship M1911A1’s to a persons home even if they have C&R.
Hey, when It says "a copy" of military ID, what exactly does that mean? What method does the cmp want us to use? I know it's illegal to photocopy a military ID.
TOMAS all the areas that we need to show proof of requires a military ID. I know active, reserve, guard, and retirees have military ID’s but I’m not sure about veterans that have not retired. The form doesn’t say if a DD-214 qualifies as proof. I’m sorry I couldn’t be more help. That might be a question to ask the CMP about. I don’t recommend emailing them because I emailed them a question months ago and I still haven’t gotten a reply and so you might have better luck calling them. I’m glad you like the video and thank you for your service.
So the fuck what, you have to provide more info if E4 or less. I hate when military rank is specified. ANYONE eligible can order from the CMP. You'd fill out the same paperwork and provide the same info, if you were at the actual store. Much of the info is the same as a 4473. Then add Citizenship (easy with an ID), CMP-Affiliated organziation (Can join the Garand Collector's association for $25 and they will send your member info to the CMP), MArksmanship (Take a class, shoot in a match. Military service covers).
The thing is, being in the military will cover club requirement and marksmanship activity. Where I live, we don't have many clubs. And if we have some, they are all full and I don't want to pay 25 dollars monthly fee just to buy a few rifles. Military ranks are specified because they carry responsibilities and training necessary for those ranks.
I feel like my old days in the military when our NCOs had to guide us like this when filling out forms and all those good shits!
Thanks for this very informative video...
I'm an E-5 but to get the rifle shipped to your door don't you need a C&R license? I too am stationed in texas
