I just made strawberry fig jam and it is amazing. Enjoying your video and thanks for the tip on the electric burner. I have a glass top stove and didn't want to chance using it for my pressure canner so the electric burner will now allow me to pressure can. THANK YOU so much for sharing that idea!!
Thank yoy for your fig recipe. I will be trying yours when I can get some figs. My grandparents used to have several fig trees on their property. I love the preserve when they are still hot. I've never tried the syrup on pancakes, that does sound delicious. I'm going to get my mother in law to help me with the canning process until I feel comfortable to do it by myself. So your process is a water bath in this video ? I did check into the little southern brothers homestead channel. Made me remember the smell of my grandpa's old pickup truck. Thank you for your videos! I like the way you think on things!God Bless your momma for picking those figs for you too.
Thank you for this comment. When you make your Fig preserves do make some syrup from the left over and let me know how you liked it on your pancakes. As I said in the video, always refer to a canning book just to be safe. Thanks Again and God Bless!
That looks like some really good preserves. I have a question. I notice you turn your jars upside down when you take them out. I know you mentioned that your Mom or Grandma used to do that, if I remember correctly. Is there a particular reason why they did that? I'm just curious as to if there's a reason or if it's something just passed down over time? I know you have spoken about it in previous canning videos but I meant to ask about it and just forgot, lol. Thank you for your information and really appreciate the work you put into your channel. God bless!
It's Just a thing passed down for the most part but on things I add salt to I feel it mixes the salt through out the jar. Plus it dumps the water off the top of the jars so I don't have to wipe them off. Thanks for your kind words, God Bless!
It's hard to put a date on them, it depends on where they are stored but I have eaten figs and jellies 10 years old before. You just have to be careful and check them before eating as with anything else canned.
NO NO NO WITH THAT MUCH SUGAR LOAD.FIGS ARE SWEET AS , AND I DONT NEED 8 CUPS.OF SUGAR.ON MY FIG PRESERVE.I USE 1 TBSPOON OF SUGAR.THE OVERLY RIPEN FIGS ARE LOADED WITH SUGAR.ITS BEST WITHOUT ALL THAT DAMN SUGAR. MY OPINION.

I make my pear preserves the same way
I'm hoping my little pear tree has enough to do some more this year.

Hello, how long is the shelf life of these figs? Thank you

I agree, everyone has an Opinion. This was an old family recipe and I backed off a bit on my next batch myself.
