      Lol no. Neither from the product perspective (nWo and his heel turn were massive), nor from a financial perspective, considering Hogan made a difference of up to +69% in PPV sales alone whenever he was on card or not, while Savage made no visible change in buyrates or ratings.
      Savage's importance for WCW can be summed down to ine thing: The feud with DDP that gave Dallas the final push into the main event.

      The thing about Eric, love or hate him, but over time he has started to show some humility and he has held his hands up to most of his failures. Maybe not as much as people would like but he has done that more than most. His recall though can be quite foggy as he admits himself. Now whether that's on purpose or not, only he really knows. if it wasn't for WCW no one would know who Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage were. They weren't very big stars prior to, the problem with WWE is they didn't know how to create stars, for example they didn't know how to make Scott Hall or Kevin Nash stars..they gave them goofy gimmicks like the Diamond Studd and Vinny Vegas. Mark Calaway, another one who couldn't draw fans interest. WCW was so innovative and a breath of fresh air, that gave birth to Stone Cold Steve Austin and Hunter Hearst Helmsley and the Wildman Marc Mero and Sable.

    Macho King should have stayed in WWF and never left. His character would’ve slowly burned for years and evolved instead of stuck in early 90s for another 2-3 years up to 1998’. He would’ve been a HOF, commentator, the face of Slim Jim at main events. He would’ve been the old skool guy that stayed and mellowed but had his moments sometimes randomly on Raw or at a main event. Imagine the Macho King still being in WWF after WCW was bought by Vince and the NWO & Hogan turned up. Guess what the main event of wrestlemania 18 would’ve been. Hogan V Mach. As I said, wrong decision to leave WWF and he would’ve given more value to the business and added even more to his legacy had he stayed and done business with Vince.

    Vince didn’t bring him back until right before he died because they couldn’t do business together. That’s it. They couldn’t agree on terms.
    He was known to be tough to do business with and Vince didn’t want someone as bullheaded as himself in the company.

    Now that I think about it, the answer is pretty clear thanks to this video so, if Vince didn't want Macho in the ring thinking he was old back then, why would he bring him back to wrestle after the purchase of WCW if he was way older then? also, he probably was pissed that Randy not only took Slim Jim away from WWF and managed to get more sponsors for WCW, but that might also have pissed Vince off way more than another wrestler that jumped ship. Hence, that's why he was not interested in bringing him back since he was old and retired he didn't see value in him. Maybe he did to include in the 2K games as a legend and for the Mattel figures but he unfortunately passed away before Vince could bring him back.

    • @LordZaayl
      @LordZaayl 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Doesn't fit anything anyone has ever said about Vince to hold a grudge like that. Also doesn't track because he still put tons of legends as old or older than Randy in the ring at that time. He'd still have plenty of use for him as a mouth piece as well. The reason could just as easily be Randy himself. Randy at the time of WCW being bought out wasn't even active anymore, his appearances becoming less and less frequent and it's not unreasonable to say he might simply have wanted to settle down and wcw folding was the perfect bookend (until he decided to dust off the boots 4 years later for his brief tna stint.) Or, Vince's decision to move him to commentary still pissed Randy off and he didn't want to work for him. Randy wouldn't be the only guy who stubbornly didn't want to work for the WWE after all (Sting)
      Also according to JR, Randy was a handful and hard to get along with and frequently started drama backstage. He also claims they knew Randy would need to be in a top position for his egos sake, for those reasons he claims they never reached out, as they had enough on their plate at the time and no position for him they believed would make both sides happy.

    • @ShadowAngel606
      @ShadowAngel606 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The Mattel deal was done behind the back of Vince and when he found out he was fuming. Vince also personally stepped in and told THQ to tell Yuke's that they can't include Randy Savage as a legend in any of their older Smackdown games or of course Legends of Wrestlemania were he the biggest omission.
      And it makes no sense for Vince to be angry over Slim Jim. Slim Jim was just a very minor sponsor in the WWF, nowhere near on the level they became in WCW where they had their logo everywhere during PPVs like Halloween Havoc.

    • @dantheman8103
      @dantheman8103 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I don't know. I mean I don't doubt there wasn't head when Randy left and took the sponsorship with him. But Randy returning was such easy money I can't buy decades later THAT is what would have made Vince turn down all the money bringing him back. Not saying the Stephanie rumors are true, but just seems hard to believe it was something as simple as "he lost me money over a decade ago, so I didn't bring him back when he could have made more more money then he ever lost".

    Savage was a good fit in 95-97, besides the starpower, he almost always was fun to watch.
    I can' understand what Vince was thinking when he decided to cut the entire division of stars he had in 92.
    The only way i can imagine it:
    - Vince sleeping in his bed
    - the phone rings
    - V: "Who's that?"
    - "Hey Vince, it's me, Paul Heyman, i have the greatest idea ever - chop everybodys head off who's over 40 years old, the real fans don't care for them, start a new era, push your midcarders over these old hilbillies, make new characters who fans would like to see, like a toiler guy, mantaur, hockey player... ratings will go through the roof"
