    The experiences I have had on mushrooms changed my world view and remain the most profound spiritual experiences I have ever had.

    • @margaretlouise6200
      @margaretlouise6200 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I've had very profound experiences too. But I've understood that it's not in the substance per se. It's that certain substances remove the "veil" that keeps us focused in a 3-D world and we see beyond to reality. So what you notice is TRUTH, not the drug itself. That's the profundity.

      @@margaretlouise6200 So what's "the truth" ? (for those of us who've never done magic mushrooms...)

    • @harryradley
      @harryradley 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jasminejones9937 There's a broad range of experiences. Mine have typically had an archetypal theme and some psychedelic visuals but I haven't had an experience that led to permanent spiritual growth. Others have, it's just that the people I met who really got deep into it were a bit weird and spacey so I always did it in moderation so as not to become a burnout.
      I found my experiences very enjoyable, but I knew to be cautious, especially with stuff like molly and ecstasy because they're known to be more addictive than mushrooms and LSD (although it's a myth that you can't get addicted to these, I've met people who were). Never managed to get my hands on ayahuasca or DMT though so I can't speak on those, I understand they're probably the best for more profound spiritual experiences though.
      These types of drugs are much more positive overall than stuff like tobacco, alcohol, meth etc. but I still think people who live completely clean lives are better off as a result.

    Although I am not a practicing Christian...I am a great admirer of Sheldrake for shattering the barrier imposed on modern thought by reductionist materialism. It is a kind of voluntary imaginative lobotomy, in my opinion...and a cultural dead end. One of the great inspirational minds of our age.

    Anyone wishing to keep up with timeless as well as current developments of highest knowledge should closely follow at least three contemporary thinkers: Rupert Sheldrake, Thomas Campbell and Donald Hoffman. We are blessed to have them in these interesting but worrisome times.

    At 36:29 Rupert describes similarities between sports and meditation where "the flow" is achieved. Basically when you're in your groove and don't need to think about what you are doing because of the high level of skill attained. I've definitely experienced this as a musician as well. Especially when jamming (improvising) with other musicians or playing along with records and do whatever I feel without consciously thinking about it.

      test being done on brain activity on footballers reacting to the ball show that the more skilled the player the less brain activity is necessary for them to preform the re-action to play the ball. also implying that its is some sort of learned intuition.
      What makes sense because footballers dont have the time to process all the possibility`s and possible outcomes of their play. On the otherhand,untrained people wont be able to perform these actions with succes with simular or more or less brain activity.

    This is a really great discussion. Talking about the consciousness of planets, astrology is based on the idea that planets have consciousness and influence events. And this work of using scientific methods to demonstrate the positive effects of spiritual practices is also a great way of getting people to look at these questions more openly.

I have openly questioned some masterpieces as fakes, if no real emotion can be felt. As a finance manager, I could get the story of all people I saw and I could get many financed. The down side, I could feel the anxiety of of individuals in crowds.

    Intention can perhaps be compared to the Hindu concept of Sankalpam
    सङ्कल्प - Samkalpa - is a Sanskrit word meaning a resolution; a free will or a determination. The word Sankalpa itself means good intention, an oath or a resolution to do something, a solemn pledge to do something good.All Yagnas and worships are accomplished after taking a vow for its performance. Sankalpa is nothing but an expression of feeling which the Saadhaka (doer) has for accomplishment of a Saadhana (task). By making a pledge a person becomes committed towards the accomplishment of his goal. Taking sankalpa as also oath means becoming committed to something and making Paramatma /Ista-Devata witness of it.
    Samkalpa or will and its purpose is discussed in Chandogya Upanishad - Adhyaya 8 - Kanda 4.
    Will is greater than the mind.For one wills ,then he reflects , then he utters speech , and then he utters it in Name. In the Name the mantras become one ; and in the mantras sacrifice become one.
    The examples of the power of the will (Samkalpa) are given in next mantra.
    The Heaven earth willed ; the air and Akasha willed ; the water and fire willed. Through will of these , Rain wills ; through the will of Rain food wills ; through the will of the food the Breath wills.through the will of breath Mantra wil; Through the will of Mantra sacrifice will.Through the will of sacrifice the world wills through the will of the world , all things will , this is will meditate upon will .

    I’ve watched a number of his talks and can’t think of a single example that’s he’s backed up with any evidence. Footballers are telepathic, good grief. They play within the boundaries of a pitch knowing the rules and having practiced repetitively, I would suggest it’s just where the team player is likely to be based on probability.
    Just like the assertion dogs can hear their owners car from across the city because the dog knows they just made a conscious decision to come home. Waffle: dogs are creatures of habit that default to routine, it’s why you can train them with food.
    As for his belief all matter is conscious except when it’s asleep…fancy offering any evidence instead of attempting to take us back to the dark ages?

      The interviewer asked overly specific guided questions, causing Rupert to have to give very specific answers. At times, he even offered an answer to his own question before a response could be given. The interviewer also displayed a high level of narcissism (not saying that's bad, but certainly not conducive for an interview), so the answers he felt comfortable giving did not tend to stretch far outside what he's most publicly known for, likely as he didn't want to trigger the guy.
