  • Aloha! Here's my toddler's updated natural cloth diaper stash. He outgrew many of the cloth diapers we packed and brought with us traveling. We sized up and tried some new styles. During the day we are using cloth training pants and pocket diapers with stretchy flats. For nighttime cloth diapering we are using Fixed Flats and fitteds with wool diaper covers. How has your baby's cloth diaper stash evolved over time?

    We've been cloth diapering for 28 months. We started with Lil Joeys. Once he outgrew the absorbency of those in under 3 weeks, we switched to prefolds and fitteds. We used that combo for a while until I just had fitted diapers. I tried EC at 15 months, let it go, then tried to potty train on his 2nd birthday, but gave up.
    My Workhorse were wearing badly, so I added to the stash. Jay's Nest really convinced me to try flats. We learned the origami fold, though I prefer pickman with 2 modifications. Now, I'm using GMD flats boosted with Thristies cotton-hemp inserts in combination with my old fitteds. I really like Ecoable cotton-hemp fitted diapers and plan to get more. They weren't absorbent initially. After dozens of washes, they stand up to my son's heavy wetting. Everything else doesn't, well except for disposables. We use those on diaper stripping days, at night, on long outings, and as a pass when mom chooses not to spray poops.
    It's important to mention that I didn't know about microplastics when I started cloth diapering. I used lots of polyester covers and used wool ones minimally. All my wet bags and pail liners are still plastic, but I'm hoping to get custom wool versions from Little Bunny Bear overtime. That said, once you learn more about the industry and your preferences, you can switch it up. My first couple stashes were secondhand, but since I've switched over to wool along with WAHM products, we get brand new.

      Thanks for sharing your cloth diapering journey! I agree that as we learn our preferences change. A wool wet bag from Little Bunny Bear sounds awesome! 💜 Heidi

      @@ECpeesythank you! I think I'd like to use a combination of fitteds/ Prefolds with covers. I already ordered some Esembly inners and have 6 of their outers, but also want to get some wool covers to try based on your recommendations :) as well as trying a lunapaca cover

    Thank you for showing you can use wool as absorbency. I have 4 wool liners from babee greens I haven't had much use out of because my 20 month old poops 3-4 times a day and I just don't like to deal with poop on/in wool. But now I'm going to try it under absorbency to make it more absorbent because he's a heavy wetter. Thank you for that tip!

    Beautiful stash! My stash has changed too much for my liking for this child! I had a great stash of newborn sizes but my baby was over 9lbs and some didn't ever fit, then he kept growing and growing and grew out of most of our one size stash at 1 year old, the rest lasted till 18 months maximum. So then we bought extended sizes, mostly flats and covers with a few pockets but then he decided he was not going to tolerate being changed any longer so we switched to pull on fitteds with snaps (motherease toddlease and chuckles) with again pull on covers with side snaps, motherease airflow and similar styles. They wouldn't have been my first choice but you can't be picky really when you have a big child, I'm thankful that there were any options at all. We also live in a small country so options are even more limited. Thankfully now at 2.5 years he is mostly using the potty except for nights. Now my dilemma is whether to sell everything now or wait and see if another baby comes along. When I first used cloth 10+ years ago everything went much more smooth. I'm glad it wasn't the other way round or I'd have given up!

      Oh, wow! Your cloth diaper stash has gone through many stages! I guess the idea of "one size" is a bit of a myth. I like getting to buy and try new diapers. But if someone was hoping their stash would last the whole time and it didn't, I can see that being quite frustrating. Which country do you live in? 💜 Heidi

    Yes my stash is ever evolving. I can’t seem to make up my mind on what system I love best. There’s something to love about each style type of diaper. I must say I used to be in love with pockets and now I just don’t like them. I have 18 thirties natural aios in hook&loop and I love those for day trips or car travel. I plan to take mostly covers and flats for my plane trip coming up in a couple months

      I like the swim diapers by Blueberry Diapers that unsnap at the sides. They are like swim suit material lines with AWJ. I forgot to show one in the video! 💜 Heidi

    With Baby #2 on the way, I plan on ECing from birth, using a natural newborn stash, and going deeper with wool. My other comment elaborates on that.

    Loving your stash! Our daughter is 11 months old and our stash has definitely shifted quite a bit!
    We also just got our just peachy diaper! I am working on prepping too, the hemp insert is just sooo big but hopefully with enough prepping it will start to fit the diaper better! Can’t wait to hear more about what you think of that one! We just got our first fixed flat in today and I’m super excited about it!

    • @ECpeesy
      @ECpeesy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      How exciting! 🎉 I just stuffed our Just Peachy diaper. The hemp insert fits now after going through the dryer. The pocket opening isn't all the way at the top, so I tuck in both ends of the insert. I hope you love the Fixed Flat! It's one of my favorite styles. 💜 Heidi

      Hi! I tested a size medium Lunapaca prototype. I'm hoping to get a size large cover in May, and then I can share more about it. It's difficult having items sent to me at the moment. I'm hoping to try more Lunapaca! 💜 Heidi

    • @ECpeesy
      @ECpeesy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That sounds like an awesome toddler diaper stash! I'd like to have more fitted diapers if we had a dryer. Which training pants are you using? 💜 Heidi

      @@ECpeesy thanks Heidi! We do not have a dryer either, I have 4 hemp fitteds and it is enough for 2 days, so, I was every other morning and dry them on a heater. We use training pants from russian company Gloryes and some from local sewing ladies. Tell me, please what do you do with outgrown diapers? (Sell or keep for more babies).

    • @ECpeesy
      @ECpeesy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@tateshevchenko6584 I usually sell our outgrown diapers. I figure that way they will get more use sooner. And I'm not planning on more babies at this point. If I had something I really loved, like a wool cover, I would probably hold onto that.
