In 1969, they would not be able to detect LSD in her system…the liver metabolizes it very quickly and the tests are very sensitive and not readily available…so, in 1969, they wouldn’t have known if she took it.

Why? Did you know him? Did you know it’s the only drug you can’t OD on? Everyone back then had opinion of a lot of things. Art Linkletter thought a lot of himself. His microscopic opinion of drugs which was personal and I do feel bad about this, because it is bad when you have to deal with a loved one with addiction, but is so focused that his child must have died of drugs that he eschewed evidence and allowed someone to get away with murder.

Wow, that was really sad. I remember when that happened. When I was a kid and lived in Southern California, I auditioned for the show "kids say the darndest things." I didn't meet Art Linkletter but I was interviewed by his son Jack Linkletter, which I remember well and I still have the photo that he and his photographer took of me that day, but they didn't choose me because I was a shy little shit gay boy LOL and barely spoke. I was cute as hell though. I have a pretty outrageous sense of humor and always have but I never have been able to laugh at parodies of things like this such as the John Waters movie about Diane Linkletter, I just won't laugh about other people's pain and I can only imagine how painful it was to lose his daughter. Especially after hearing that record you played. Really heartbreaking. I also have to give old Art Linkletter, who was a huge star to us back in the day, props for telling off that turd Timothy Leary. He really very eloquently and accurately tore him to shreds. That's what most people with a minimal amount of common sense would say, but if you look at it from a detective's (employed by law enforcement) perspective, A suicide = case open, case shut. Homicide = case open with an investigation to follow & another case added to an already overwhelmed caseload. I'm not trying to justify it by any means, as I totally agree with you, but have seen enough true crime to realize this isn't just something that happened back in the day. Unfortunately, this sort of determination of case mentality lives on to this day. I don't think it's coincidence
the option that provides the least amount of effort & can be applied to the current case situation is more often than not the one that gets chosen.

I was in the small dorm at Chadwick with her. In the 9 months I lived with her I had very little contact with her. I remember her only having a nose job and being ashamed of the bandages. I never met her father. I can’t believe I shared such close quarters with someone and have nothing specific to say.

I vividly remember this story! Rumor had it that drinks were being laced with tabs of acid (it was really happening where I grew up). I credit Art Linkletter's push to inform the public of the dangers of drug use. It made me stay away from punches and unattended drinks when I was out at a party or the bar.

I went to a high rise with a woman from work (worked in Beverly Hills for a doctor), to a meet a woman she knew. Both women wanted me to see the bathroom. That was red flag uncomfortable. That woman propositioned me to be an escort. She told me some names of baseball players she would like to introduce me to. I had never heard of such a thing as escort it sounded more like a ____! She was petite, average pretty. She told me her sister was a stunt woman in Hollywood. I was concerned I didn't belong here and I was not driving. This was maybe 74, I was 20. Wonder if this is the high rise and the other madam!

I was, gosh....14 years old when this incident happened. The parents later used "Charles Manson" and "Art Linkletter's daughter" as ammunition against me and the current counter culture. "You're going to turn into Charles Manson!" Or "You'll get hooked on drugs and end up like Art Linkletter's daughter. The news did not help showing interviews with Art blaming "The Beatles...and Guthrie." Later I found out Grace Slick was a target of Art's also. Such is being a young teen with long hair back in 1969 and 1970.
