  • Sha’Carri Richardson had an exceptionally strong start to her 2023 season in South Florida. Participating in her first individual meet of the year (after running the 4x100 at the Texas Relays the previous weekend), Richardson achieved a time of 10.75 seconds (+2.8 wind) in the preliminary round. She followed it up with an impressive performance in the women's 100-meter final at the Miramar Invitational, finishing in first place with a time of 10.57 seconds (+4.1 wind). Although the tailwind exceeded the legal limit of 2.0 m/s, Richardson dominated the competition, which included Melissa Jefferson and TeeTee Terry, both among the top three finishers in last year's US championships. Terry finished far behind in second place with a time of 10.83 seconds, while no other women in the A final managed to break the 11-second mark. Richardson's time ranks as the fourth-fastest ever recorded for the 100-meter race under any weather conditions.

She'Carri's mechanics at top end speed are phenominal and worth study by males and females alike. She does all her work from 30-80m and then the job is done, she chills building up to speed, then mashes the gas, every one is dusted and then she lets out of it. The work done between 30-80m is completely intense.

So, we can only go by recent data, BUT, taking into consideration the death of a mother, the bad relationship, the public bullying, etc., it looks much more like she’s consistent most of the time, but had a rough past year and half. It’s like Elaine…she’s AMAZING, but got injured, lost many races, then came back out on top, only to lost momentum last year. ShaCarri and Elaine remind me so much of one another.

It is not 10.86 or 10.77. 10.77 would have been the time had there not been any wind and is only hypothetical since she would have to run under those conditions at 0m/s wind and register 10.77 for it to count. The most impressive part about her race, time and wind aside, is how much she separates herself from the absolute best in America (with the exception of Hobbs). Look at how far she is ahead of TT, and look at how far TT is ahead of everyone else. This is an epic performance no matter what, because it’s showing ShaCarri is ahead of the Americans here more than the Jamaicans are usually ahead of them. It’s not saying she’s in better shape than the top three Jamaicans, but, it says the competition between she and they is looking very close and questionable at this moment. We can never discount the brilliance of Jamaica, but, it appears she stands out along with them. For example, TT is a 10.82 runner at her best, and this wind took her to a similar range. ShaCarri’s best is unknown, but she ran .3 faster than TT, wind or not and regardless of the time. Also, the fact she could run 10.57 with or w/o wind shows her body is able to do it, which automatically shoots down any claim Justin Gatlin was lying about what he says she does in practice. Windy or not, someone doesn’t just run this time unless their body is capable of it.

If this happens every single year from now on, okay, but, it only happens for a year and half, and last year she clearly was slower because she lifted tons of weights! Like, she should’ve been expected to be slow last year, just as the Jamaicans and everyone else is always slow when they are training in the beginning of their season. Like, what did she have, like three races or so before the championships? Even slow, she was running 10.8’s, which is better than most other runners have ever done in their life!

Perhaps the wind flared up when it was measured, because most atheletes don't seem to have recieved the wind assistance that She'Carri did because most did a better PB without wind.

Back to her original best... hopefully *'Shacarri Richardson'* will indeed continue this winning form...👏🏿💯
Lane Number (No.7) whomever that be...? Whom could one day dominate women's sprints. Her running mechanics be a perfect form to behold, a form in motion.... 💯👍🏿

She looks to be in great form. It’s obvious she has been putting in the work during the off-season. She’s had plenty of time when combined with the time she was made to sit to do so, and I hope she’s learned from it. Hopefully this season she shows she dropped the big entourage and dramatic shenanigans and takes the job much more seriously. I am looking forward to watching her progress through the season and make the world team. She will be awesome to see there in the indie 100 and relay.

Thats a very good time, even wind assisted. Flojos world record of 10.49 was PROBABLY wind assisted as well (most of the races that day showed a large wind, but for the actual race the meter showed 0.0 wind, bit unusual).

Im glad to see Sha'carri with the "momentum," but its fair to say that Jackson was slowing down. Moreover, Sha'carri still has to prove that she can run with Jackson in the 200m. A fast time must be viewed within the context of whoever is at the starting blocks. Now get all the top runners in the blocks and lets see if Sha'carri can replicate her performance, here.
