I love the intro and "tutorial". It tells you everything there is to the game right off the bat. "Shoot lots of stuff. Jump so you don't get shot. Get in the tank so you can shoot even more stuff". Simple and awesome.

A great game that’s hard as nails, sometimes hard in an unfair way. To expand on that, I’m talking about unexceptionable enemy placement and attacks that are brutal. Branching pathways is most certainly a welcome addition to the franchise that, sadly, hasn’t made it way to many sequels, only some. Still keeps the rock’n tunes it’s particularly been known for- at least in my opinion. One last thing- the final level is a complete drag. You could’ve just separated it into 2 separate levels, with a new boss, SNK!! Excellent playthrough, bravo!! Yet, it still seems to hold up today in complete glory!!

Metal Slug 3 final mission, first segment is the final boss of MS1, second is the final boss of MS2 and then the last segment is MS3 final boss, pure awesome!
Thats what i loved about MS3. There i was ready to run the game thinking "oh hell...the same soldier shooting game..." and here i was shooting crabs and zombies. Fucking awesome enemy variety.
Man was I proud to have owned this as an original cartridge on the Neo Geo AES. Had a lot of fun with this game in 2-player-mode. Today, I don't own the game or the Neo Geo anymore (or any other gaming system), but I vividly remember playing this with the original, first edition Joystick... good times!

I love Metal Slug, I noticed that the heroes have different kinds of handguns, Marco and Tarma are using a semi-automatic pistol, probably M1911. Eri and Fio are using a revolver and I think it's the Colt Single Action Army a 6 shooter

Aliens appeared most of the installments, except for 5. 5 is my most favorite because of soundtrack, level design, and no aliens.
Metal slug 3 was my absolute favorite but damn was it hard, I remember how many quarters I spent the 1st time I ever beat it.
Its bade that way for making money on arcade, so there are no reason to play with limited lives...
