Update: 1: There is now a 'Mod Pack' folder you can download that includes all current mods! Should make it easier to download and setup. Read the discord mod page for specifics. 2: The DLC installer now contains a region free version of the DLC for those on anything other than NTSC. So no need to change console region other than language differences. 3: The title update included with the DLC is already built in with the mods (hence why I said there was no difference.) This includes when launching with or without mods so now you know 🙂
Subbed, this is something I thought was impossible to mod games on the og Xbox. But here you are. Please don't stop, and teach others how you do it. This could be something massively popular amongst the community.
I downloaded 1.1.4 and extracted it to Mechassault but Launch Mods doesn't show up. The strange part is there's nothing in Partition 5 to clear out. If anything the SymbolsCache looks more like a cache pool to me.
Did you drag the contents of the mod pack into the Mechassault game folder so that the files replace the original game ones? For e.g. the mod pack default.xbe file should replace the Mechassault one. All the files inside the mod pack folder should be placed in the directory of the game folder
@@Elite2Assault The download contains MechSet, Multi, and WDFs folders and N1Launch.xbe, N1Mp.mgf, N1Pack.mgf, and N1Shared.mgf. That is all. None of the Mechassault files or folders have these names.
@HedgehogY2K The mod contains a file called default.xbe and the game contains the same file. You need to move the mod files so that it replaces the original ones
You should probably have an added section that details that the mech1 title update is mandatory for multiplayer if you're on a console, since otherwise there'll be an influx of people complaining that they can't see lobbies on XLink and blame it on the mods.
Huh really? I have my other xbox without the title update and was able to connect to myself with the title update before. In fact my other xbox was using a PAL copy, no dlc/update and was still able to connect so it didn't seem like it affected if for me but that was just my experience
@@Elite2Assault We ran some tests of our own, and the XLink page for Mech1 states that you will not be able to see other lobbies hosted by Platinum update players unless you also have it.
@@BigTa1k Oh so you're saying if some has the update like the plat version and they host a game (without them having dlc cause if they did you wouldn't be able to join), the person without the update can't join? But if the person without the update hosts, they can join? That's something I gotta test since my mods use plat as a base for it's files. Even when I didn't have the update, I still saw games when people did, I just couldn't join cause they had dlc but maybe I'm remembering wrong tbf

My mod uses plat as a base so if you install my mod, it'll include the title update with the mod even if you don't launch the mods so if people do get my mod, they'll also be downloading the update and therefore can see other games with the update lol
Do you have to run CXBX or whatever your emulator is to install DLC? I'm running Xemu, so it seems like I can't use DLC or mods with my emulator because I don't have the version of the game with all of the files exposed.
For Xemu, you should be able to get the dlc launcher and convert that to an iso format. Then run the dlc as a disc and install the dlc that way. Hope that helps
I love you, THANK you, and how do I get into creating mods for this game bc I may or may not want to. If I actually get into it, I'd like to add quality of life features. If that's possible.
Modding this game is not really user friendly if I'm being honest lol. There isn't really any mod tools per se. There is tools to help read the contents of the files but not to directly edit sadly. I try my best with what's available xD
@@Elite2Assault I've got a few hundred hours under my belt with fiddling files manually to the Fallout games, and some of 7 Days to Die. With the itch to mod games only getting stronger the last 5 years, I see myself trying to secretly/desperately recreate modding tools for my favorite games in another 5, if at all possible 😂. So I'm down for the learning curve.
@@Elite2Assault fuck it, I just took a mini course of JavaScript to relearn coding basics and whatnot. Too many games I want to emulate, mod, play. Not enough knowledge in my sponge to do that yet 😂.
