  • Do Camels Make Good Pets?
    Having a camel as a pet is one of the most enjoyable things to experience. Sure, they aren’t dog sized (but kinda ‘dog like’ in behaviour) and they require particular husbandry requirements specific to camels.
    Knowledge is power to pet camel ownership!
    Many people across the globe are enjoying their ‘Pet Camel’ in a variety of ways from pleasure riding and trekking to simply just being with their camel.
    In this video, I explain what you need to know to have a pet camel.
    I cover things like:
    Housing
    Husbandry Requirements
    Training & Handling requirements

    I had a dream last night I had a Camel. I brought it into my house and it laid down on the floor to make itself comfortable, just like a dog.

    THANK YOU TARA!!!! This was a perfect intro video! Please please please do more videos on raising camels and their general care. Maybe videos on their daily maintenance and your chores and such. Or maybe if you’ve come across medical issues they’re having, stuff like that!
    My husband will be retiring (He’s a U.S. Army Soldier) sometime in the next 6 years. I want two female camels. I have since I was 12. My husband loves animals and is totally up to working them with me. I cannot wait to own my own babies! Even if I don’t get them as babies lol. Anyway, we’re starting our camel husbandry study now so we will be well prepared and organized when the time comes to actually purchase ours. Your videos and website/classes excite me and make me eager to learn more! Thank you so much for sharing the knowledge you do!

    Such a great video Tara! I love seeing how you interact with your camels, it's just so beautiful. I am so excited for this new channel. It will be years before I will be able to have my own camels, but in the mean time I intend to learn all I can from your videos, so I can be the best camel mama I can possibly be! Thanks for being such a inspiration and a source of wisdom for all of us camel lovers !

    If you have two or three camels can they be kept in with horses, donkeys, and cows or is it better for them to have their own pasture?

    • @camelchannel_taralea
      @camelchannel_taralea  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes often these dynamics work, horses can tend to be quite fearful of camels, but a gentle introduction could work. Donkey's and cows are ideal. Just be mindful that camels are extremely susceptible to parasites and do not have a tolerance like other domesticated animals (cows horses etc). Put the camels of a regimented parasite control program. You can find all this information in The Acadmey 🙂

    Do they get along with horses?

    • @camelchannel_taralea
      @camelchannel_taralea  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      depends on the circumstances and the horse. Some horses co-Habitat well other not so much. Camels never seem to have a problem with horses it the other way around.

    What do you think of Luke Campbell who trains wild camels in the Northern Territory

    • @camelchannel_taralea
      @camelchannel_taralea  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I just googled him. I have a very different opinion and approach to training and handling camels and this isn't how I train Australian (wild /feral) camels. There are lots of 'methods' and each to their own.

  • @Remo860
    @Remo860 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I hate to break it to you but that’s not a camel. It’s a dromedary. Camels have two humps.

    • @camelchannel_taralea
      @camelchannel_taralea  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Two main breeds of camels:
      Dromedary (one hump)
      Bactrian (Two humps)
      In the USA and Russia the breed 'hybird' breeds.

    • @milansaric6140

      Dromedaries are camels

    • @milansaric6140
      @milansaric6140 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      There are 6 types of camels:
      1. Dromedary camel
      2. Bactrian camel
      3. Wild bactrian camel
      4. F1 camel
      5 F2 bactrian camel
      6. F2 dromedary camel
      The only non-domesticated camel is the wild bactrian camel.
