- Back to the Turning on The Cheap theme (playlist: • Turn Talk 12 - Turning... . Gary, aka ThePapa1947, has done a number of these and I've been wanting to do one of these for some time. I just didn't have the proper equipment... i.e. parting tool. So when I was at SWAT last year I bought a thin Carter & Sons parting tool. It didn't work out quite as I hoped, but I managed. This video highlights the successes and failures of this journey. All in all, I'm happy with the result. After all, it was more a proof of concept than anything else. Finished with Minwax Antique Oil and buffed with Ack's Abrasive Paste followed by Ack's Polish/Restoring Paste. Enjoy. If you have questions that I didn't answer, feel free to contact me. Billy
Well Billy I had the notify on but my wife ask if I could go to the store with her to pick up some heavy items and she got priority over you LOL. So I got home and could have skipped ahead and watched where you were at but decided to start at the beginning.
The bowl turned out very nice and thanks for the mention.
Take care my friend,
Gary
No worries, Gary. I understand fully. Thank you and thanks for watching, my friend.

What a beautiful walnut bowl. I liked the shape of the bowl. Thank you for taking the time to explain how to section the blank. It was a little over my head since I am not a turner but I could see where you were going. Thanks for another very interesting video. God bless.
Thank you very much, Michele! I try to make it understandable.
Billy

Nice job, Billy! You won't struggle with the next one once you have a decent parting tool to work with. Looks like you have the process down pat. Next one will be a piece of cake! This one looks pretty dang good to me! 😊
Phil
Thank you very much, Phil! The next one was a bit easier, but not without issues... as you will see in a few weeks. But I'm getting there!
