Jamshedpur, 8 April:
Jamshedpur District Election Officer cum Deputy Commissioner, the district administration is continuously running various awareness campaigns to increase the voting percentage. Under this, an awareness campaign was run among new voters at Gandhi Maidan in Mango.
Deputy Development Commissioner of the district and Dhalbhum Sub-Divisional Officer were present in it. They appealed to all the new voters to vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections to be held on 25th May.
District Deputy Development Commissioner Manish Kumar said that the percentage of voting in urban areas is low and people think that their one vote does not make any difference, whereas the vote of every voter is invaluable and it strengthens the democratic system, this campaign is being run with the aim of conveying this message to every voter, especially the new voters.
Efforts were made to convince new voters through street plays and names of new voters were added by organising camps and voters above the age of 80 years were also felicitated.
