Holloway is maybe a bit unlucky not to get a draw? Great fights.

Against Israel, he was kept at distance by kicks and punches and did not have an answer to that. Whittaker has wrestling and kicks to oppose to Adesanya. Great matchup to come

Interim belts are not stupid. What is stupid is the frequency in which these belts are given out. The whole point of them was to have someone step in while the current champ was out for an extended period of time. They used to wait before handing these things out. Cain was out for a long ass time before he dropped out of his fight with Werdum and they brought in Mark Hunt I think to fight for the interim belt. Same thing with Dominic Cruz. He was out for a long ass time before Barao and Faber fought for the interim belt, and they even had Barao DEFEND the interim belt before they officially stripped Cruz and made Barao the undisputed champ.

In the main event there were 2 clear rounds for Porier and 1 clear round for Max. The other 2 rounds were very close, so any result is OK with me.
1, 2, 5 for Poirier imo, but as you said two of the rounds were close but you had to give it to Dustin. That first round could've been a 10-8.

I love both Holloway and Poirier and am so happy for Dustin but I was screaming for him to keep working as I thought he was blowing his early lead when he was trying for those takedowns. Holloway is maybe a bit unlucky not to get a draw? Great fights.

Gastelum has heart but he lacks of variety in his game. For such a small body he should reduce the distance with his opponent and wrestle him more often. Against Israel, he was kept at distance by kicks and punches and did not have an answer to that. Whittaker has wrestling and kicks to oppose to Adesanya. Great matchup to come

Those fights had nothing to do with the belt. The interim belt is just a number 1 contender spot. The belt has no meaning.

The UFC could easily change that and should change that. The interim belt is not a symbol of being a champion, it's just a belt for the sake of a belt. If anything it makes the real belt less significant. It's stupid and the ONLY reason such a belt exists is because it supposedly assists in PPV numbers. Poirier is not a champion hes just the #1 contender.
Interim belts are not stupid. What is stupid is the frequency in which these belts are given out. The whole point of them was to have someone step in while the current champ was out for an extended period of time. They used to wait before handing these things out. Cain was out for a long ass time before he dropped out of his fight with Werdum and they brought in Mark Hunt I think to fight for the interim belt. Same thing with Dominic Cruz. He was out for a long ass time before Barao and Faber fought for the interim belt, and they even had Barao DEFEND the interim belt before they officially stripped Cruz and made Barao the undisputed champ.

Why the need for such a belt to begin with? It's not a symbol of being a champion but merely a belt for the number 1 contender. If anything it makes the actual championship belt less meaningful. Stripping a title from a champion and then making the fighter who holds the interim title champion by default is hardly indisputable. Lol. As the saying goes to be the champ you have to beat the champ. The only time that doesn't hold true is if the champ cannot fight in which case you strip the champ of his title and have the top 2 fighters in the division (if possible) fight for the vacant title. Once or if the champion returns they get an immediate shot at the title they relinquished. The UFC does not need interim titles.

UFC needs to go back with Fox, it just seems ESPN does not know how to handle this sport! They present it in a way that seems ESPN doesn’t know anything about marital arts. Then comes the complications of where and how to watch the damn PPV so many people were having troubles simply buying the PPV! Then comes post fight interviews and post fight press conferences are difficult to find, the whole thing is a mess!!
