Think about changing the substrate. Do a mix of organic topsoil and play sand. About a 60-40 mix. This will help keep a higher humidity and also enable him to dig and exhibit natural behavior. Also, you want to have at the very least 3 hides. One on the far side under his lamp that will serve as his hot hide, one in the middle of the enclosure that will serve as his humid hide (aids in shedding and maintaining humidity), and one on the other side furthest from the lamp, this will be his cool hide. Misting the enclosure and flooding the water bowl every few day will help keep the tank humid enough. Add as much clutter to the tank as you can. Sticks, leaves, rocks, anything for him to climb under on top of or in between. This will make him far more active and will stimulate his brain.

Hey, awesome work deciding to upgrade the enclosure! Just a heads up, the minimum size enclosure for a leopard gecko is a 40 gallon tank. He looks young so i wouldn’t panic about it, but i would definitely set my sights on getting him a 40 gallon as soon as you can. They require a UVB light, it simulates sunlight and lets allows them to digest calcium. Without UVB they commonly get metabolic bone disease which is very serious. Also, if he is a male, he should not be cohabited with another leopard gecko, regardless of gender. Males are aggressive towards other geckos. The minimum enclosure size for 2 cohabited female geckos is 60 gallons and that is very small. I dont want to overload you with information, just want to help your little buddy have the best possible life. Beautiful gecko!

i think you should add more hides just so he can hide while not being under the heat lamp

I work on upgrading them as much as I can and I saved him from a situation where he wasn't healthy.
