Passion, effort, loyalty, intensity, talent.... Gerrard is the gold standard for professional athletes.
Each goal showed a different aspect of Stevie. The first one showed courage and technique, the second showed how composed he is and the last was just classy.
Great player, at the age of 30 he's scored a hatrick in this game, even better he's a centre mid, since when do centre mids score hattricks at that age.

He was already past his best here. You can see the dynamic speed isnt there. He started slipping at age 29. For some players it's a different age.

it's so sad to see that Gerrard was still brilliant at this age but the players around him just are so awful, like he's trying to work with them giving 1-2's but they just aren't at his level here

Lucas was also great, he tackled the Napoli defender expertly so Gerrard could complete his hat-trick
not all the players were bad... but Ngog, Eccleston,, Konchesky, Poulsen... there were some pretty awful players on this team

Dalglish's team was garbage, Jay Spearing played ffs, Brendan Rodgers teams were shite other than Suarez Sturridge and Coutinho, Flanagan was our starting left back, Jose Enrique would play left wing! The quality our team has now is 100% better than the ones he played in

I went to this game.Hodgson had to bring gerrard on either just before or just after half time.There where napoli fans in the main stand and the ones sat next to me said gerrard was the greatest player they had seen in the last 20 years

Although were witnessing greatness with klopp and the players we have now. I will never forget the memories gerrard gave me as a kid. Hes exactly the type of player that would’ve flourished under klopp.

Captain Fantastic jumped into the game at half time and got us a 3-1 win with a hat-trick in front of The Koop! .... Still remember the day i was home alone in my room and shouted really loud so the neighbors heard ! .... As a Manchester United fan, Gerrard was truly a great player. And just one mistake affected his entire time at the club.

Im a big Liverpool fan and everything but i think if Gerrard had went to a better skillful club he would have been even more massive than he already is, but he's a loyal scouser and all credit to him.

Then Gerrard came on and they just fell apart, they couldn't get anywhere near him. You could taste the fear they had of him.

P.S.: Vitale did good piitting on Gerrard's poster after the game, serves him right for doing SSHHH in front of us, but he should have spat in his face rather than on his picture, because a picture, being an inanimate object, can't react

this game sums up what he had to do post 2010 for Liverpool. Excluding 2013-15 where we got some better players and coutinho became very good, stevie carried poor teams to some finals and without him Liverpool would have finished 10th or lower in some seasons 😅

not saying this because I'm a liverpool fsn...but I can't remeber many other games where a team was getting so dominated (napoli shud have scored 2 or 3) and a single sub completely changed the game... Gerrard completely bossed a very good Napoli squad

Steven Gerrard is the best player in the world without a doubt. He fights till the final whistle and gives 110% in every game. He might not score as many goals as Messi or Ronaldo, but in my opinion, he is still the best. Whenever he comes onto the pitch, he always leads by example and lifts the team even when there may be no way back in the game. Most players leave clubs to win trophies. Gerrard stays and earns them. CAPTAIN FANTASTIC.
