It's been used MANY times before, like it's not like it's some super crazy intricate/complex sound that could only possibly have been found by a single artist lol- it sounds GOOD, but it's absolutely not something that only a genius could conceive of. And ALL songs will have some vague similarities to other songs lol- they need to be faaar more similar than these two to try calling it a "rip off". It's like saying that all guitarists that use distortion are "ripping off" whoever first used it, ie. obviously ridiculous.
This is band that emboies "Hey we had a great first release! Lets make something that sounds nothing like what we established." These guys released an EP that was groundbreaking for Post-Hardcore, only to find out his voice was pitch shifted up was a pain as he sounded better with a higher voice. On top of that, Idealism was a bad album that had boring pop garbage that followed into their live music of low energy without any effort. No wonder other post-hardcore bands stopped playing with them after Idealism came out.
