Eloy is a very musical drummer and has a groove that is amazing. He's got Latin music roots that helps a lot in his interpretation of all other forms of music
Look I'll preface this with not being a SK fan, I'm into Progressive/Jazz Metal, but I don't understand the hype surrounding Eloy? To me he is a good drummer, but that is it. I may be horribly out of touch, but am I missing something?
Eloy.....has IMO....... A very perceptible sense of musicality in the choice of his notes.......off course he's fast and powerful and whatnot.... Just like many Garden variety drummers..... But I feel it's his sense of rhythm that shines through

@@antonalberts9230 I think you may be missing everything dude. His technic ability is outstanding, check some of his solo drum performances, there is also an Animals as Leaders cover. His power and consistency is unprecedented, close second in this department being Mario. He is solid as a rock and can play literally anything. He really is the best metal drummer on the planet right now. I would say the top five are Eloy, Mario, Haake, Gartska, Turner.

Eloy is fucking killing it on the drums… I saw Slipknot back in the early 2000’s, and Eloy has brought them back to that level of energy… he seems to have reinvigorated the band… and I’m all for it.

There’s nothing Slipknot can throw at Eloy that he won’t be able to handle. Whatever they wanna do, he can do it.

Eloy is a beast! his double bass is just insane! the power, the even sound, well everything I think is perfect, Yes Jay was great, but this guy is on another level, the band feels rejuvenated for real! Awesome video Thanks for sharing!

It adds a new dimension to them... Before you had Joey and Jay who looked a bit ghostly and were super technical but now there's just an axe murderer sat at the back of the stage beating a drumkit into submission.

When i first saw him play with them I thought it's like he's playing with hatchets instead of drumsticks. I'm a drummer, and Eloy shouldn't be called The Mime, He should be called something involving sharp instruments wielded by a straight faced killer on drums
Since you asked what I thought: I'm 41 and learned how to play the drums by playing along with Slipknot, Sepultura, Cradle of Filth... Etc. Joey was praised because he had a very distinct sound and feel when he played the drums. Jay was a great drummer. Super polished and very smooth. But Joey had this very particular feel to his playing. Like a train that could go off the rails any minute but never does. Eloy does a GREAT job of replicating that feel and vibe in ways Jay never did. That's not to knock Jay at all. I was sad to see him go, but it's not my band so it's not my choice. All I can say is at this point they've had 3 very capable and awesome drummers in their band and I'm looking forward to seeing what they come up with now that they have this new guy in the band. I think I'm gonna go listen to Roots now.

Eloy was the second and last drummer to play in Sepultura. Roots was recorded with Igor Cavalera on drums, Max's brother. Both were the co-founders of the band.
@@pepa0998 Between Igor and Eloy, Sepultura had Jean Dolabella, he played in Sepultura for 5 years. Anyway, go listen to Roots, it is an amazing album :)
@@pepa0998 I'm aware. Roots was the first metal album I owned. I mean I grew up listening to GWAR, Cannibal Corpse, Morbid Angel, etc.... but that's because I shared a room with my older brother and that's what he was into. I prefer a good groove over speed. That album is probably why.

You could have put a blanket over Eloy's head. You know it's him drumming by how his body moves with such intensity.

it seemed like eloy's microphone was slightly louder than the other instruments and corey's voice. It was a strategy to make the drums audio louder so you could actually hear him playing at this inaugural show
Man, he hits so hard it's dificult to not be heard, specially so near to the stage.
Unbelievable!!!!! The double kicking and speed is incredible will miss Jay but totally justified absolutely incredible drumming
His drumming style is within the same vein as Joey's style. Raw, brutal, energetic. I like it. I like Jay's style too but when I listened to their last album there were certain moments that sounded like Jay wanted to get more experimental with his drumming. Which is fine for some bands but Slipknot was founded on a foundation of brutal drum beats. So, it makes sense why they wanted to return to that style that originally propelled them into the numetal stratosphere.

Its hilarious, my 2 favourite drummers are polar opposites. Eloy Casagrande and Alex Bent. Eloy looks like he's in a fight to the death with his kit and Alex looks like he's barely awake when drumming
