  • Today I paid a visit to BNSF Kaiser Yard in the Inland Empire. I decided to spend a the whole day here to see the various jobs and locals that switched out the remnants of the ATSF Pasadena Subdivision. I recorded 5 roadswitchers, and passing Metrolink San Bernardino Line trains.
I rode in on a Metrolink myself where I saw a warbonnet, BNSF 669 leading the Fifth Kaiser Roadswitcher along with a KCS which was putting away its train before the crew went home, in addition to passing M319 and getting a yard view.
Once on the ground, I started off filming the BNSF Sixth Kaiser Roadswitcher, the train which is responsible for switching the Pasadena Sub and relevant spurs from Kaiser eastward to San Bernardino. It was switching around a huge transformer on a 12 axle depressed flatcar, before switching out the Black Diamond Fly Ash plant, before vanishing into the yard where the crew got lunch. While they were switching Metrolink M308 and M325 flew by.
Not much later, the crew of the First Kaiser Roadswitcher finished building the outbound Kaiser Hauler in the east end of the yard, and redeployed to a set of three unassigned road units seen earlier. They took them back from the tail track to the east end of the yard to continue more switching.
The tail track was not left void of engines very long, as not much later, the crew of the BNSF Pasadena Roadswitcher took four units from the previous day's Kaiser Slab Train from the CSI plant to the south onto the tail track for inspection. Metrolink M312 raced on past at a track speed of 79mph.
Next up to the plate was the BNSF Second Kaiser Roadswitcher, returning from lunch, deployed into a small train on the south siding, and moved it about 1000 feet forward before the crew got off and vanished.
The Pasadena Roadswitcher had its crew redeployed to the Frito Lay Spur in Rancho Cucamonga. This was to bring in the train of the Third Kaiser Roadswitcher, which had its crew expire while still out switching. They brought the train to North Yard, set out all the cars, before bringing the power into the main yard where the crew would get lunch.
Just as the Pasadena was pulling up, the First Kaiser Roadswitcher returned shoving a cut of tank cars, where it would cross over at CP Kaiser and head down to switch out the BNSF Fontana Logistics Center, with cars fo diesel oil for Valero.
After that, M314 rolled by and M329 too.
The Sixth then returned from Quantix in San Bernardino, I filmed a few more Metrolinks there and at Fontana Metrolink Station, and I headed home.

Great video! I continnue to be amazed at how you put yourself in suspect locales --- who can stand on the Cherry Ave. bridge in Fontana for over an hour without being run over, mugged or shot? Colin is a railfan hero!
