    Nice!
    I have a 92 250 with a 360 LA, I will be putting a 5.2 magnum in it this spring, then I will be building the 360 over the winter, I am going with a 4" stroker, and will probably keep the LA heads on it.
    I am more interested in torque than HP.
    operating range is from idle to 3,500 rpms 90% of the time,
    It's difficult to find anything built for that type of application, most are set up for top end. (4,000-6,000rpm)

    • @jerodwolford2743
      @jerodwolford2743 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You want to look for an intake with long runners. Same with your headers. I'd still go for some edelbrock heads because they only just help the flow and it'll help with the torque in that sense. I know this is old but yknow

    • @sidewyndersshed1676
      @sidewyndersshed1676 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jerodwolford2743
      I ended up getting a 91 360 to rebuild instead of using that 5.2 magnum.
      And due to supply problems and prices skyrocketing in such a short period, I did not go with the 4" stroker.
      I had id bored 30 over, put kb 107 pistons in it, static compression of 9.7:1,
      A speedmaster air gap intake and edlebrock 650 avs-2 carb.
      A comp cam, .450/.480 lift. (Don't have cam card handy, and forgot the rest of the specs.)
      I plugged the smog holes in the heads and am just using stock magnum exhaust manifolds right now.

    I had to get a torque converter for Magnum engine because the LA engine uses weights on the torque converter and the Magnum doesn't. The LA is externally balanced and the Magnum is internally balanced. Other than that, it all just bolts together.

  • @timstamp1
    @timstamp1  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Oh, and you also have to get new flexplate due to balance issues. B&M makes them.

  • @timstamp1
    @timstamp1  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Unless you balanced your engine with your flexplate and torque converter, you have to use a special B&M flexplate and a neutrally balanced torque converter. The 360 uses a different motor mount on the driver side. If you try to use the 318's mount, it'll be about an inch off. Do you have your engine bolted to the mounts before you tried bolting it to the tranny?

  • @FullDrawOutdoors

    I got 4.5k into mine and thats all out, cam,heads with 2.02 valves, roller rockers, hughes FI air gap intake, rebuild kit, push rods the hole nine. Tuner cause you will need a tuner for a 96 dodge ram, the PCM is something else, you will need to tell the computer what to do cause it will run but it will run like shit. I went with SCT tuning by hemifever, But I would go B & G chysler if I was you. I have 24lb injectors as well. My advice is if you build it....CARB!

    Hi Tim, I see this is old post and that you have since sold the truck, I looked through all the posts and couldn't find the answer to my question so I thought I'd try here and see if you still answer these. I'm wondering if you have to run a lift kit to handle those 35" tires and if so how much ??????? Beautiful truck and stance to it that I'd like to try to duplicate. Old Dodge fan here... been running them since they were new in the 80's ! Thanks !!

    Did you use the wiring out of the 99, or did ya use a early gen magnum one?. I more less have the same truck, same color and every thing, it was an 87, and I put a 93 magnum drivetrain in it, even with the 4sp 46rh trans. motor worked awsome, but with the trans blew apart. (I blame the 3:55 gears with the 37 Interco M16;s) Rebuilt the Trans and Re-geared to 4:56 she works awsome

    • @timstamp1
      @timstamp1  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Thomas Campos I picked this one up for $1k cash on the side of the road. The fenders just above the rear tires were rusted through, and the paint was totally shot. Of course it was totally stock, and the passenger fender/bumper/grill was bashed in, and it had a 318 in it originally. I wouldn't buy a truck with a rusted out frame. The cab corners right by the bed are hot spots for rust in these trucks, as well.

    • @timstamp1
      @timstamp1  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      PG, I used this torque converter www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-G2709-11 and my engine shop had a B&M flexplate that I bought from them. Just make sure everything is balanced together. I gave them my flexplate and torque converter to balance to the engine.

    • @xPolarGamingx
      @xPolarGamingx 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      timstamp1 Might be a dumb question, but why didn't you go with a lockup converter, or wont it fit correctly if you didn't have one before?

    • @timstamp1
      @timstamp1  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      xPolarGamingx Because my stock converter wasn't a lockup. Good thing, too, or I would've had to go big dollar or a custom.

    • @xPolarGamingx
      @xPolarGamingx 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      timstamp1 Last question for now! (sorry) Why did you go with the B&M flexplate and not just the standard weighted flexplate on the 360 magnum with the neutral balanced converter? Will I need a B&M flexplate as well? I read this on www.magnumswap.com
      "The 5.9 Magnum uses a weighted flexplate and a neutral-balanced converter from the factory. To make life simple, be sure to get the flexplate with your engine. With the weighted flexplate, simply use a neutral balanced converter, these are readily available for most transmissions. We recommend this method."
      Also, did you order new engine mounts or make custom engine mounts or something?

    • @timstamp1
      @timstamp1  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No emissions inspection here. I think it's old enough to get by in most states anyway.

    • @AIRMASTER77
      @AIRMASTER77 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +timstamp1 we don't have the sniffer test where I'm at either but you must have the emissions parts in place if it came from the factory. My Ramcharger had the air pump and of course catalytic converter.
      I even went to a couple exhaust shops and they wouldn't even run real dual exhaust. They said it had to have the y pipe going to the cat then you could run duals.
      Got disgusted and ran it all myself. Glad they don't bother you where you are.
