I love how you included clips of ice skating! I love when there’s the “talking about it” clips but then I get disappointed in not getting to see the actual activity so I love when there’s a little clip even if it is tiny!!
I’m not always allowed to film for ice skating, but I could this time 💖💖
One thing that helps me talking the buses is the transit app! I used it when I was in my college town and it really helped, I also used it in Chicago! it allows you to put your location and final decision and give live feedback from other riders which is really helpful.
I second this!! In my city it provides live updates on bus locations, live updates for route schedules, notifications on cancellations & reroutes, and more!! I have to imagine that New York has a really good transit app, I'm kind of jealous lol

I think a good theme to this vlog was how BRAVE you are! I know it is what some people consider daily things but you trying out the bus and not letting it get you down you getting back on the ice and even wanting to do private lessons! You are thriving in NY Lauren and it's so nice to see! (Also seasonal depression is so real and can come at ANY time! ;) )

I live outside NYC. February is the hardest in terms of mental health because the cold just keeps coming. Many years, we're still having serious snowstorms through the whole month.
Many years ago, it kept going through March and we even had snow on April 15th.
This seems to be a much better year than most.
Lovely Lauren ~ You're really coming along with your lessons! Chelsea Piers is beautiful but can be so cold in the winter. Grand Central is so vast and beautiful! I live in a condo in the city so I totally get the bus and cooking struggles. I LOVE how communicative and supportive you and Will are! You'll get used to the transit system the more you engage with it as you feel safe to do so. Happy that you found a great coffee place, I always remind myself to stir the coffee if it initially tastes different, it helps. I notice that you use different bags for different tasks and events, I do the same, "move in and out" of each bag in different sizes . I can't imagine having a few bags that use for everything. Thank you again for the content! 🤍🌸⛸☕
I moved from South Florida to Northern Indiana and this seasonal depression is SO real. It’s been a big struggle this winter. I just get sooo happy when I see the sun too!! Love your content 💕💕 STAY HAPPPY!! 😊

The bus confusions happen to the best of us! I've lived in NYC almost my entire life and I've encountered the same problem. Sometimes it helps to look up the bus line on google and just walk to the next stop if it's only a few blocks away. You got this! Glad you're gonna try again.
Yes! Also, if there is construction around, its possible that the stop got moved. I also learned when I moved here that some don't have benches or ticket machines, it'll just be the pole the route on it- none of the stops look the same. Sometimes its obvious but often the stops can be hard to find in a new area. And the bus is almost never on time, but there's always another one on its way.

I love this figure skating story arch! You could totally take it seriously and compete as a beginner level adult, I would love that content so much lol
for the fire alarm while cooking issue - there should be a fan above your hob - the buttons for it may flick down from the top of the hood of the hob
turn the fan on when cooking and it should suck up all the cooking fumes/smokiness so that it doesnt go into the fire alarm and make it go off

I also used to have the same issue with setting the smoke detector off any time I cooked in my old condo; the detector was placed too close to the kitchen, so even baking something in the oven was a problem (forget frying or searing on the stovetop). Since there was a unit above me, the exhaust fan above the stove didn't actually vent the smoke/steam outside and just kicked it back into my unit. What I wound up doing was covering the smoke detector with a shower cap and I never had an issue again. I would leave my step stool directly underneath it so I wouldn't forget to remove it after cooking (because that would be super dangerous). Maybe this will work for your situation, too. 😊
Fun little MAKEUP TRICK ✨ When you get mascara on your eyelid or accidentally anywhere but your eyelashes, let the mascara dry, and then use a clean lash Spooly to scratch/rub away the mascara, and you won’t have any leftover residue or have to redo your foundation ❤
I still use the good ole’ Q-tip swab trick to remove a mascara smudge, works great!

Yes!!! Usually I can’t film or get much done during the “practice” time, but I could this night because we didn’t have that many people like we usually do!
Always check the bus schedule on the transportation site and plan that way!! The bus everywhere is always unreliable but not as much as google maps is when it comes to using that as your bus schedule. You’ve got this!! I took the bus until I got my drivers license at 21 ❤ still opt for public transportation though because parking is not it!!

Hii! I have been watching your videos for years! I am also a fellow New Yorker and was a competitive figure skater growing up!! After many years I've learned that the thinner the sock the less cold your feet will get and your have more control in your boot. I just skate in pantyhose tight sock things lol (I am sure theres a better way to explain that) and the bunga pads and it really is a game changer! Cold to put on but makes all the difference when skating!
Yes I’ve heard this!!! These skates are used from eBay and have NOOO support at all. Looking into buying skates that have more support + cushion! Do you have recs?
@@TheLaurenNorris Edeas were always my go to boot and I found them super easy to break in over breaking in jacksons. Edeas go up by level so talk to your coach about what the best boot will be for you and how much you plan on committing just because I remember having to switch edea boots once I got to doubles because I needed more support in my ankles that I didn't need for singles. But I love them! Also on the upside they have little crystals embedded in them. I've had my Ice Fly Edeas for years and swear by them. Previously I reacted so bad to new boots and had to basically suffer for a couple of weeks as they broke in tried everything from, baking them in the oven and mold them to my feet, wearing them around the house for hours and just waiting out the blisters where I did not have anywhere near the pain when breaking in new Edeas. Always feel free to reach out!!
I forgot to add there is also boots that are more for Ice dancing versus skills so wwhen purchasing it is always good to chat with the coach. Also the rink might have like a skate sales rep (usually one of the head coaches) who will do consults to size you, Make recs for boots, and what blades would fit!

@TheLaurenNorris google maps is notoriously unreliable. Definitely use a traffic app or whomever funds the bus service
