  • The ordinary apple may take up to ten years to start fruiting. But Wambugu apple is grafted and takes only about less than 2 years. It starts fruiting at nine months and fruiting from around twelve to fifteen months. Monitor the plant every two weeks to remove any leaves growing below the upper grafted part, that is, don't allow any leaves to grow on the apple root stock. Also if the tender plant starts flowering before 9 months, remove the flowers to protect the tender plant. Wambugu apples are grafted in Kenya and will do well literally anywhere in Nigeria.       Rootstocks are seedlings that were removed from nursery and imported without the soil in them. That's why they're rootstock. You will now plant them afresh. Some are a few weeks before they're removed from the soil
