Ok, so for whoever is wondering about getting this kit, I’ve installed it myself and used it for a while. Here’s my take and experience, with some Pros and lots of Cons: First, the Pros: 1) The new camera has better resolution and a much faster response time compared to Nakita from the old kits. Nakita cameras always had some delay between actions, but this one has almost none. 2) The plug-and-play feature is convenient-avoiding the hassle of grounding and splicing wires is a big plus. Most of the wires are nicely wrapped in fleece tape. 3) The steering wheel programming is a great addition to the button control. It’s fairly intuitive and requires almost no learning curve. 4) The harness is much cleaner than the older kit. The old Anytime camera kit was kind of intimidating at first glance. 5) The automatic activation function works flawlessly-it’s awesome not having to manually toggle the switch in tight parking spaces. Now to the Cons, lots of complaints: 1) Harness length is too short. There’s not enough slack in the wires that connect to the front/rear switch button if you plan to place the switch on the left-side accessory panel of the steering wheel. You’ll have to figure out how to route the module cable through the center dash to the knee panel under the steering wheel just to create enough slack. That’s bad design. 2) Not a true plug-and-play if you want to use other cameras. The camera from the new kit uses a proprietary 5-pin style, while most other aftermarket cameras use a 4-pin style. On top of that, the camera lines are integrated into the harness, so switching cameras becomes a real hassle. You’ll have to solder and splice if you want to use different camera styles. Big hassle! 3) Crappy camera mounting method. Seriously, they cheaped out here. A square camera housing with a 3D-printed plate that uses the OEM screw hole would be much better. Instead, they gave us a nut, and we have no idea how much torque to apply with tiny pliers. Is it going to break the plastic housing? Who knows. But I'm sure it scratched the hell out of the plastic OEM Camera housing. 4) Why cut the grid lines? Now I have to solder just to restore them, which is nerve-wracking considering how little space and material I have to work with. Plug-and-play? Yeah, right. 5) No installation instructions with a $300 product? That’s unbelievable. For the price, you’d expect at least a basic instruction sheet. 6) The camera came loose in the package. I spent 30 minutes just figuring out how to get the inner housing to sit properly. Plus, the steel screws go into the aluminum housing-how long will that last? Your guess is as good as mine. 7) Center indicator arrow and logos? Misleading. The camera feed on your screen will definitely be crooked if you follow the arrow to the 12 o'clock position. I was confused until I realized the problem. Please test your product thoroughly before adding a logo that does the wrong job. 8) Steering wheel programming not tested properly. If you use the steering wheel buttons to switch between cameras, it interferes with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. For example, if you’re playing music, the steering wheel button will switch songs when you try to switch cameras. I’ve tested this a few times and can confirm it’s a programming issue. This should have been figured out before selling the module. I like this kit because it brings more features compared to the original Anytime camera kit, but would I recommend it right now? Honestly, I don’t know. I swear I sweated and cursed more while installing this kit than I did with the original Anytime Camera Kit, which is pretty funny to me ... I’ve already sent feedback to the company almost a week ago about these issues, but I haven’t heard back from them, nor have they offered any solutions or fixes. Maybe this tells something about their customer service ... or maybe I was just having high hope ... Does it work better than the old kit? Yes, absolutely. Is it as promising as the video suggests? Not really.
