Really? You call an attorney excellent who asked the jury to violate this child's human rights by sentencing her to lwop. Are you aware that all human rights organisations around the world continue to lobby and protest the fact that the USA hands this sentence out to children under the age of 18, at all. The rest of the civilised world see this as a travesty, just fyi.

She could have accepted a plea deal for 40 years with possible parole, but I imagine she thought they would see her as an innocent child, and this is where taking that chance took her.

I just said that under another video. 😂 Also in Mississippi, a life sentence means life without parole unless they clarify “with parole” which didn’t happen here. The judge explained previously that unless they said "Life with Parole"... it is Life...(without parole) in the jury instructions for the sentencing phase). The district attorney also said she’s gonna spend the rest of her life in prison, no way around it.

@@LedaMuchomas I have no idea who would have come up with the idea not to take it... Like 40 is a long time but she is young and would still have another 20-40 years of life free if she took it. Now she's more likely to die in prison. Oh well, maybe don't kill your mom.

The problem is prior to the trial, there were times he essentially prosecuted from the bench. He worked for years in the same office that the ADAs who tried this case currently work. That stuff is quite common, and isn't an issue, but there were multiple hearings before the trial where he wasn't exactly straight down the middle. That stuff will come up in the appeal.

Except when the judge made it clear to both sides' attorneys, that they have seemed to forget what's most important, to which he claimed was the jury. To him, the most important WAS NOT the victim mother, the victim stepdad, nor was it the family of the victims or defendant! He didn't have to respond to that attorney the way he did, all bc she received texts from parents who were upset with their children's names being broadcast on live TV. He embarrassed her in front of everyone in the room and to the live audience on TH-cam. The way he walked out after that too, was just so uncalled for! Other than that, he ran his court room like it was the military.
