Taking risks & being afraid is incredibly important in the Christian Faith, so often evidenced by stories like Noah & Moses 17:38 We as a church in America need to be careful to distinguish between stepping out in faith for God's plans vs. the plans of our heart "The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure" Stepping out to face Goliath to demonstrate the power of God vs. getting a new car or house because we want one 28:36 An excellent documentary on distinguishing the difference is here: "American Gospel: Christ Alone". We also have to remember we are not in control of God's will "You must not test the Lord your God." it is not about "earning" favor by your actions, but remembering that God answers prayers if our actions aligning with his will have lead to a place where they are needed (Peter stepping out of the boat, fish & loaves, etc.) Jesus promises forgiveness of sins & heaven forever, but not necessarily an easy life in the present "In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” It is important to distinguish worldly dreams vs. God's big plans for you (ex: recovering from addiction) Red Rocks is doing amazing work all around the world & in the lives of it's members, keep it up yall!
I absolutely loved listening and relistening to this message. I felt like it was preached just for me as you hit so many aspects that I am struggling with. Thank you for listening to God and following after His heart for you. It is a great inspiration to me. May God continue to bless you.
