Thanks for the shoutout. That same spring you can buy new from bmw, think it’s like £20, same spring is in the rs3 as well, though most other models, s3, golf r, a45 and some others use a flat spring, which can be stretched but it’s easier to misalign the spring by stretching it, all manufacturers follow the same “replace rather than repair” line even though the information has been out there for years at this point lol
Good video...I did this mod/adjustment last summer and has been fine since. Just to clarify, it's not the spring that's lost tension but corrosion and wear in the exhaust flap/spindle assembly from opening and closing along with corrosive moisture...and that's where the wear/play in the flap assembly comes from, so some spring adjustment works. For information a new spring can be purchased off fleabay for a couple of quid if need be. I'd also recommend using some drive up ramps then dropping the rear box hangers to give better access, no need to remove the exhaust....be careful refitting to ensure the spring engages in the flap correctly or you risk having a fully open or closed flap that won't actuate.
@@G6GXM I think stock valve behavior randomly opens and shuts quite a bit on various rpms (stock tune). I'm running a cete valve controller on mine so valves stay open in dynamic mode.
Awesome! Trying this on mine for sure! Thank you
I finally got to doing this. IT WORKED! thank you so much. No more rattle!
Nice one thanks

Have you got a link to the spring mate? I want to make sure I order the right one. Thanks
@@mattjamescarter I don't sorry, people have just rung bmw parts department, it's common enough that they probably all know what you're asking for
@@pcwexhaustmods really appreciate the reply! I’ll give that a try. Cheers
@@mattjamescarter did you end up getting a part number for it? did it work?
@@ohZyki hi there I managed to replaced the actuator and all works perfectly now. I can find out the part number for you
🤔Certainly didn’t sound like that when I owned it, well done on the fix👍👍

is it just a spring that needs replace?
@@NoNickName1122 no need to replace it, just remove, open it out a little (so as to apply more pressure on the valve flap) and refit
@@jasonwalsh9211I’m sorry I’m a little confused
Thank you for your great video!
Exhaust Rattle vs Wastegate rattle. Different things, but if you recognize the wastegate rattle, it can be tuned out easily enough.

I have a Ttrs which I’ll be selling later in the year with a milltek valved non res if your interested in part exing with your stock system
thx, I will try it on my rs3..
U fixed it?
@fakie_shots_6158 no, not until yet
NICE thx
Well done.. Happy dayz
Great when you can find a cheaper way out of a problem
Did the exhaust valve only rattle in comfort mode?
Yes as that’s when the valve was shut, when you come to a stop or under 2.5k revs it’d do it in dynamic too as the valve was shutting
@@G6GXM I think stock valve behavior randomly opens and shuts quite a bit on various rpms (stock tune). I'm running a cete valve controller on mine so valves stay open in dynamic mode.
did you do both sides or is there only 1 valve?
I did one side as only one side was rattling, exhaust has a valve either side
