Brilliant mate! A perfect addition to Kiarra, and that should be a good enough length of chain for mooring somewhere nice with some nice fishing. Once you get her all ship shape you might have to take her on a trip to the north for a nice Holiday! Have a Merry Christmas down there!
Thanks mate, it's around 75m of chain and should be more than enough for anywhere in my local waters. I have a massive amount of timber work booked in just after Christmas. Once that's all done she will be in a much more usable condition.
Anchor's away old chap. Thank you for a entertaining year and all your hard work its been much appreciated. So may you and your family have a wonderful Christmas and a happy New year, and may the adventure carry on next year. Gary 🇬🇧🇬🇧
Cheers Gary and thanks for the continued support. I have some big videos planned for next year and hopefully actually get some time to use the old girl too. Stay safe and happy holidays 👍🍻
Mate ya anchor chamber , like it is with chain dropping into the bow you not worried about all the moisture, mud, weed ect. I’d probably put a removable bin there to capture the chain and easy to remove and clean the area. Cheers Paul 👍👍
Smart thinking with the adapter plate Tim all seems to run great only thing I would have done is put chain into some sort off container with holes to let water drain into the bilge only my opinion but great job . Merry Christmas to all 👍
I think this is a fantastic idea and I will have a look around at what I can find to fit in the locker. Otherwise I will just fibreglass the whole chain locker and put a drain in.
On Brupeg Damien on his chain locker he placed a rubber cylinder in the chain locker for the chain I was thinking you could do the same in kiarra if you have the room this would save damage to woodwork you would need drainage but in a plastic or rubber container you shouldn't get wet wood that might rot Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you from Thailand 😊😊😊
Hi Tim, I agree 100% what you said about the boating community they are fantastic. I remember when I had my boat if anyone seen you struggling with your boat that would run down to help you. I also think it’s the same in the camping community. I bought myself a space pod camper which are made here in Queensland in Archerfield i’m in a wheelchair. That’s the reason why I bought one because it’s easy for me to handle. The only thing I found was very difficult. Was the awning but when people see you struggling a race over to help you thank you once again for your videos and Merry Christmas and a happy New Year to you and your family Cliff from Logan City, Queensland, Australia 🇦🇺🧑🏾🦽
Thanks Cliff, the family and I are also avid campers and your dead right the camping community are also a fantastic bunch. Wishing you and your family all the best for the holidays mate, stay safe and take care. Tim
Another great video, Tim!! Merry Christmas to you and all your family & friends. Stay safe, healthy and happy!! Looking forward to your next episode. 🙂
You're doing extremely well Tim in regards to Kiarra. It doesn't matter if they be a little disjointed either coz we are all only mere humans. Great to see a decent chain in the old girl now mate. :) Merry Christmas to you and you family way up Woop Woop and enjoy the Festive Season.
Shirt. Oh mate I am in. Now I am a big bloke 122 kilos or 19 stone . I wear a 4X. Merry Christmas to you Tim your legion dad can’t forget your mum and your family.
Thanks mate, I will be sure to keep you posted on any merch that comes up. I'm not really happy with the trial run of shirts so that has been put back unfortunately.
Looks like enough chain to anchor in the middle of the pacific so you are all set. Nice to see things coming together on the ole girl. Merry Christmas to you and yours!!
I would estimate 100-150kg all up. I wouldn't want to be lifting it by hand that's for sure. Thanks mate she is going to be a hot Christmas here this year we have had several days over 40degc already
Merry Christmas to you and yours Tim, I wish you a safe and prosperous New Year and may you always find those 10mm sockets you need 😉 Don't envy you lads handballing all that chain into the wee boat, but like you said it needed done and went better with more hands
I didn't put too much thought into the chain locker but several comments including yours has made me realise I need to make it a more secure location for the chain. I will do something about keeping the water out and padding the chain very soon.
I am glad you are going to stop "muddling things up" i understand why you do it. now the boat end of the chain needs to be attached to the inside of the chain locker. This is doe with a piece of rope that can be cut in an emergency (knife nearby) If the anchor is dragging and it gets to a point where all the chain is out and you can't get it back in, you need a quick way of disposing of it. This means once you have dropped the chain you can motor off safely. Of course befor cutting the chain you will attach a bouy if you have time.
Thanks mate, yeah it's certainly a good idea to teather the end. I didn't think about making possible to cut in case of emergency though that's a good idea
Tim, did you consider a cutdown 220lt poly drum in the bow to hold the anchor chain off the hull and stringers, just a thought, because it would then hold any water coming in, and a drain could be fitted to keep water and mud out of the bilges,. wooden boats take a lot of maintenance, as your finding out, but they are the best boats as well.
To be honest I actually hadn't put any real thought into a drum of anything like that but now it has been pointed out it makes a lot of sense. I will have a look around and see what I can find. Otherwise I will just fibreglass the chain locker to keep it watertight.
@@HarpersBoatShed a drum or similar would be better, as you won't have cahin links abrading the hull and stringers, glass has its own issues, as it is brittle, and can crack with impacts, that creates a place for water to enter between the glass and hull skin , and this would be in an area which isn't inspected on a regular basis , due to its position,
Yeah mate the family is always fishing while I work lol. It's a law on the boat that you must put a line in the water. I have a few videos planned for the next few weeks and they will be all about replacing rotten timber and the aft roof.
Nice job Fella 😊. That's a shit load of Chain sits nicely in the locker and no one fell in the ocean 😮 excellent work. Keep at it. 😊
Lol yeah we were hoping no one went in. Was a very rough day, wouldn't of been fun to fall in.

Job well done Best wishes for Xmas 2024 for yourself and family from Vung Tau Vietnam
Thank you very much and same to you and your family.

Cheers Paul 👍👍
It's not really bothering me at the moment but if it becomes a mess I will put something in there to hold the chain like you mentioned
Thanks Tim, nice job on the controller box. Have a great Christmas with the fam.
Thank you mate the control box was a bit of work but hopefully sold and reliable. Safe holiday to you and your family also mate 👍🍻
Maybe it would be wise to mark every 5 to 10 meters of the chain. Further than that looking good 😊
Definitely would of been wise to make it before I installed it on the boat

Thanks mate, I'm thinking I may fibreglass line the chain locker for protection and hopefully keep the water out of the bildge.

Another great video, Tim!! Merry Christmas to you and all your family & friends. Stay safe, healthy and happy!! Looking forward to your next episode. 🙂
Thanks Pete, same to you mate hopefully you're doing well up there. Did you get your boat all ready to head out to the reef over the break??
You're doing extremely well Tim in regards to Kiarra. It doesn't matter if they be a little disjointed either coz we are all only mere humans.
Great to see a decent chain in the old girl now mate. :)
Merry Christmas to you and you family way up Woop Woop and enjoy the Festive Season.
Thanks mate and very merry Christmas to you also 👍🍻
Merry Christmas, and a safe and happy New Year to you and your family.
Thanks for some great content
Your most welcome. Hopefully I can keep it a bit more consistent next year.

Thanks mate, yeah there is over 70m there. That's more than enough to anchor in any of the waters locally and should be good for going outside also.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours. Regards.
Thank you and same to you mate.
a fair bit of weight that chain must weigh.... keep the vids coming & Merry Christmas to you all from wintery Wales, UK
I would estimate 100-150kg all up. I wouldn't want to be lifting it by hand that's for sure. Thanks mate she is going to be a hot Christmas here this year we have had several days over 40degc already

Cheers mate hopefully next year brings good things for all of us

Don't envy you lads handballing all that chain into the wee boat, but like you said it needed done and went better with more hands
Thanks mate and the 10mm is long gone by this point. That's the 4th time I have had to move the chain and happy it was the last.
Dont forget to fasten the end of the chain to the boat ;) Merry xmas :)
Yeah that's probably a good idea.
you should think about put some conveyor belt rubber into the chain locker to protect it
I didn't put too much thought into the chain locker but several comments including yours has made me realise I need to make it a more secure location for the chain. I will do something about keeping the water out and padding the chain very soon.
Great video mate. That is alot of chain, would have been funny to watch you load it up by yourself 😂
Thanks mate, it's over 70m of chain so there should be plenty. Lol it probably would have ended poorly if I had tried to do it alone.
Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you and your family Tim.
Thank you mate and same to yourself 👍🍻
Merry Christmas and Happy New Sailing Year.
Thanks mate and same to you 👍

Very solid point mate. I will have a look and see what I can find for a drum
Spray those solenoids with some lanotec or similar!
Good idea I actually have some in the shed, I will try to remember to take it out next time to protect the electronics
I see the hand lines ready to go in the background, family fishing yet?
Also is another video planned for this year or Christmas holidays?
Yeah mate the family is always fishing while I work lol. It's a law on the boat that you must put a line in the water. I have a few videos planned for the next few weeks and they will be all about replacing rotten timber and the aft roof.
