Agree coach Mary is nice. Our group instructor scoffs and walks off. It really is making me hate skating. I've had this effect with two of my group classes. They aren't helping with that. It's like they can't be seen with someone so incompetent. And I'm afraid to ask for any help or clarification with them like that

Saskia van Dijk Chill! Try back-spin before you even think about camel spin! Camel spin is pretty hard if you arent in a higher level. But congrats on doing a 1 foot spin! 🥳
I think I'm just a super-beginner because I felt like this taught the entry but the spin just happened with no explanation like which part should carry the weight when spinning of if you lift your heel or toe or whatever.
i can only do the three turn on my left foot but i can also only spin on my left foot, do you have any tips on how to do this spin going in from crossover entrance? (right over left)
Good explanation but, although your left foot is in the locked position, your free leg is bent and needs straightening out? Watch your video, you'll see what I mean.
I'd say sit spin. That's the first one I learned after the forward upright. I find the camel very difficult even after 4 years of figure skating, whereas the sit spin is totally badass. It's a lot more difficult to generate momentum and keep your balance on a camel spin.
I had such a good camel spin but I lost it.. really pissed because I can't really advance because my spins aren't that great. my jumps are way more advanced for my current level
Tell me about it. Camel spins suck. I'm also a much better jumper than spinner. Let me guess, do you fall forward over your toepick after one rotation? That's what I do. What's helping me fix this is practicing bent leg camel spins from standstill. You do a camel spin without ever straightening your left skating knee. Then you can try doing a bent leg camel and straightening that knee after about 2 rotation. Then you can move onto a normal camel spin but just keep that knee bent a little bit longer (about 1 rotation) to stabilize yourself and avoid falling over forward.
@@natsskates ohh thank you!! i got much better at my camel spin and i usually get 6-8 rotations but the thing im still super scared about is when i need to do it during comp. i usually need to do around 3 practice camels to warm it up or else i’ll over. im sure your tips will work!!
I had this idea I could balance on one foot like that at the gym but I was mistaken. Basically I fell and hit the top of my head on the mirror. I don't know why I did that.

Thank you so much for making these videos they are extremely helpful. Especially the mistake parts
agh i'm stuck trying to do a sit spin but the speed is too much for me to actually sit :(
any tips on how to slow down to maintain control?
I have a sit spin tutorial on my channel!
Wow!!! So informative. I don't skate but ballroom dancing has a similar move. I can use the same techniques you teach here. Thank you.
Oh! the three-turn is the thing I was missing! I’m technically not at the level yet, but the camel spin will help with my spiral. thanks!
sure thing!
Thanks! I used to have trouble with the camel spin but now I can do it with no problem!
This was a REALLY good source to learn ANYTHING literally ANY MOVE ON THE ICE!
Thank you for this tutorial! After this I did my camel
Spin very beautiful!
so happy to hear that congrats!
Hi Mary, Love 😍 the broken down explanations. Thank You!! Lise 🦋🎼⛸
You're welcome :)
How do you rotate faster? I can never get enough momentum to do more than 1 or 2 rotations.
Pushing harder into the spin, staying centered in a balanced stable position, trying not to move any body parts!
Thanks! So many great tips! Now it sounds doable! 🙏💕
Thanks for watching!
Hi Mary, Thanks for the explanation are very helpful so thanks for the coching!

do you practise spins on both sides? is it better to spin in preferred direction only?

Your very good thank you this helped me so well🥰🥰
Thank you Diara!

thanks!
do skaters typically learn a sitting spin or a camel spin first?

my camel spin has become very lazy over the yrs cus i dont like them that much so imma come back and improve it lolz

can you also do it on your right leg?I mean the spin?
yes! that would be a back camel or you can spin clockwise
Coach Mary - Figure Skating Tutorials! Thanks very much!!! I will try it tomorrow😇😇😇
What do you mean to stack your hips?
in this case, line the left hip over left skating foot :)
I think this video needs a bigger description for the spin, because where is your weight how to do the spin??
sorry should have addressed this! weight on the ball of the foot for all spins
please add turkish subtitles
😻😻
should be available!
