      It's funny that Europe has laxer emissions laws than California. The smog nazis are beyond ridiculous and while I'm no major eco warrior I do think we need to tighten emissions laws, but not on hot rodders who aren't the cause of emissions issues.

      Emission laws are decent for cities like LA to keep the air clear, but most emissions laws are just a cash grab.

      @@hunternelson3018 The emissions laws in LA are still stupid. You have to smog cars going all the way back to 1974 and smog checking them takes extra work and money. Plus how many of them are still on the road? Cars over 20 or 25 years old should, IMO, but exempt. So that's model year 1995 or 2000 at the time of this post.

    +Jakob Faxholm I just want you to know that I think this is THE most amazing drag car I've ever seen. That engine is beautiful, I've been following the build on youtube, and would LOVE if you keep me posted!
    This is the coolest car project I've seen in a long time, please get back to me :). And awesome craftsmanship and engineering!

    Talk about LOAD UP CITY. No doubt he's packing one hell of an ignition system else those spark plugs would have been dead about half way through that drive. I find it incredible interesting that these good people of Denmark are living the American Dream I grew up with and still live today. Most American don't live it anymore by the way and could care less about working on cars. Of course there aren't a lot of inspiring cars anymore either. When I was a kid all guys had their heads under the hood. It kept us out of trouble.

      n5ifi 60's and 70's American muscle cars are quite popular here in Scandinavia. A lot of people consider them the ultimate summer cruiser. Especially Mustangs and Chargers.

    jakob,how about a little specs for the hc street race dude like me?i used to cruise a roots blown 540 and it made decent torque and i had a blast with it.in a 64 malibu with 35x15x21.5 hoosier slicks you got nice traction even in the streets and i got really nice scalps...like you could easily humiliate any japanese crotch rockets.

      @@teknoaija1762 All you have to do is to look up a 5.300 bore space block and use the same numbers on a 5.400 space block. Stroke is 5.875 and bore is 5.220". Deck is 12.225. So if you look at the bore spacing you can see that it does not have a massively thick liner all things considered. Cam is a 70 mm with journal bearings, it uses the same style of keyed lifter setup usually found in these engines. As you can see in the video, it has four throttle bodies etc. It has a CR of 12.5:1 and runs on E85. As far as power goes, it is somewhat mild compared to the race engine. This will make about 1400-1500 hp whereas the race engine makes over 2000 hp.

      They are not Holleys. Accufab throttle bodies and Big Stuff EFI. Here's the deal, I've seen this car twice. As interesting as it is, it runs like shit. As you can see, he idles it around because that's all it can do. The entire combination is not set up for street not even close. He tried to detune a drag motor and that's rarely easy. You can do a Sonny's 1005 for the street, but it has to be done from the ground up. Cam, CR, head volume etc. This program is just too much head, too much cam, pulled timing etc. Runs like crap and has never been raced or properly run. It was all in the name of advertising.

      That is all engine power on 98 RON.
      According to what Leonard told me at PRI 2016, an all water 1005 could make 5800-6000 hp on C16 and 4200 hp on 93 AKI. Imagine a solid Alky or stuffing fuel into such a thing with turbos on it...

      Ja. Det er efterhånden en del år siden han byggede den. Det er ren reklame da den reelt ikke kan køre. Den kan mere eller mindre rulle rundt i tomgang på den måde du ser her, men det er det hele.

      Et af problemerne er at blokken er massiv, altså uden passager for vandkøling. Den har dog noget køling i form af en kappe som blev specielt lavet til dette projekt. Men der er stadig ingen køling imellem cylinderne og topstykkerne er helt uden vand. Normal er den motor lavet til at køre på Metanol og det køler i sig selv meget, men den skal jo også kun køre 400 meter ned af en bane efter at være blevet varmet op. Motoren her køre på E85 og selvom det gør at motoren køre lidt koldere en på benzin, så er det stadig intet i mod hvad Metanol kan.
      Ud over det så er disse topstykker lavet til at fungere med meget højere kompression end hvad han har i den, og på grund af den mildere knastaksel er luftens hastighed i grenrørene og indsugningsportene lav, og det gør at atomiseringen bliver dårlig. Dette skaber en dårlig forbrænding og gør at det er meget svært at justere motoren til at køre. Enten vil den egne sig til at køre med fuld gas, eller også vil den gå lean lige så snart man røre speederen. Man kunne i princippet godt lave en 1005'er som gademotor, men det ville kræve en del ændringer. Det ville kræve en blok med rigtig vandkøling og topstykker med vandpassager. Det vil kræve topstykker med mindre porte osv. og det har Sonny's ganske enkelt ikke da ingen andre bruger det. De laver faktisk en 940 ci motor til gadebrug fordi de sælger en del af deres 5.300" B.S udstyr. De har lavet en del til brug i både, pullers osv. så de har 5.300" topstykker der har mindre flow og større forbrændingskammer for lavere kompression. Det handler selvfølgelg om penge i sidste ende og hvis du kontakter Sonny's Racing Engines og siger hvad du vil have og at du vil betale, jamen så skal de som nok lave det. Men prisen bliver nok på den kedelige side af 170000 usd med alt den R&D der skal bruges.
      Til syvende og sidst er der helt de samme udfordringer med den 1005 som der vil være med en mere almindelig BBC i f.eks 565 ci osv. Hvis du sætter et sæt Big Chief 11 graders toppe på sådan en med en kæmpe solid roller knast med over .900" løft og 294 grader vargihed ved .050", jamen så har du også en motor som helst vil have en tomgang på 1700-1800 omdrejninger og først tager momoent og speeder response over 3500 omdrejninger. Men hvis du bruger et sæt AFR 315 CNC toppe med en "mild" hydraulisk roller knast med f.eks 248/256 v. .050" og .680" løft, jammen så har du en sjov motor som laver en små 675 hk og køre forholdsvist roligt i tomgang og med godt tip-in. Det er sådan set det der er problemet her. Den her 1005'er en racermotor man har prøvet at tæmme med uden egentlig at kunne gøre det rigtigt. De har lagt en mildere knast i den og sænket kompressionen, men resten er stadig lavet med henblik på 8500+ omdreninger og en mega kompression i stedet for maks effekt ved 6000 omdreninger og 12.5:1 CR.

      Haha ja. Dagene hvor en 454 eller 455 var stor, er vidst ovre. Hvilen 455? Olds, Buick eller Pontiac?
      Har selv haft en del forskelligt, bl.a et par Pontiac 400 og 455 for en del år siden.

      I understand its a show car, but between the cooling fans and the exhaust kicking up dirt and grass, I'd fab an air cleaner for it.
      It's not like its going to block the drivers view of the road any worse :D

      Sonny's do a very nice 805 street deal that actually works in a street application. This is so wound down to be able to do this that he can't hardly push the throttle. I've seen it, it's all show and no go.

    I have never liked corvettes for several reasons. The people who typically drive them are always: better than everyone else, there things are better,faster, worth more than everyone elses. Even when it's a identical item. They will be your typical boss or coworker who will either underpay you or cheat you if they can get away with it. As coworkers they tend to be annoying know it all assholes who aren't above setting someone up or causing problems. Either to obtain your position or just get rid of you in fear of you if you are a decent employee. Nova camaro crowd is much different. Corvette owners are wanna be hotrodders who wish they were rich enough to own a Ferrari. So they could just stand around at ferrari get togethers. Eating little cheese things holding a wine glass while posing for pics wishing that they were famous.
