As a scout, I can testify, all stars are the best footwear for most of our activities, light to run and walk, flexible for climbing, (although a pair of wellies can suit you better in the mud) 10/10 would recommend getting one
I like converse with puttees and I have worn the same in the past but I prefer my m1943 buckle infantry boots as they offer more support, I like how they lace up like regular service shoes but has the leather cuff
I recently took a trip to San Francisco over a week ago and wound up taking my converse with me. This video is what inspired me to wear putties with the sneakers. Of course it was for cosmetic reasons, but it was also for a practical purpose and that was because the pants that I was wearing during that time where extremely baggy, so, not only did this video help with that, and also made mobility a lot more easier.
I tried my best Go to custom choose the Chuck Taylor 70 Body (tahini tan canvas) Tongue same as the body Heel stripe (red bark canvas) Lining (natural ivory) Stitch (off white) Lace (off white) Eyelets (sliver) Side wall and toe cap (gum dark honey)
I do some Viking re-enactment, so I always use leg wraps for that, but I never realized that leg wraps were used in ww1! Thanks for making such an interesting video!
You should try some Chuck 70s. They're much better quality and fit. Not the cheap materials and redesign that they did to make them more affordable. The Chuck 70 is exactly like they were made in the 1970's. Tighter fit and thicker soles and insoles included. Some of the most comfortable shoes i own. But the Converse you'd buy at a local store are uncomfortable. Order 70's from Converse website. You can customize as well if you want
Been looking for a pair of early shoes for my 1920s trekking, you guys have been a big help. Gonna get on the Converse site later. I've got some videos on my channel you guys might like. Thanks for making this one.
You know guys you You ought to have that one cam quality from Those old Movies I don't know what the name of that camera quality is, but it's when you watch an old western movie or an old slasher movie. You ought to have that kind of camera quality So it feels like you're watching an old adventure movie And crafts So when you're making your. old vintage war shoes and gas masks and guns. it feels like it's in that time .

pretty cool video and shoes. I think you should have gone with the Chuck 70s converse though they are much better than the regular Chuck Taylors. They are $10 more expensive though. Maybe something to look over for your next build or new shoes. Overall I really enjoyed this video keep it up
I tried my best Go to custom choose the Chuck Taylor 70 Body (tahini tan canvas) Tongue same as the body Heel stripe (red bark canvas) Lining (natural ivory) Stitch (off white) Lace (off white) Eyelets (sliver)
You CAN have Converse make a custom shoe with the bottom of the shoe black. You just need to customize a different style. The Chuck 70 has a black bottom, and you can customize it. A couple others do as well. You chose the modern design which uses cheaper materials.
Beside the redwing iron ranger what vintage boot would you recommend for adventuring. Those are really sweet , I asked a navy seal what water shoe he recommended for operating on the beach he said chuck taylors. I remember my first pair, I was really sad cause the basketball coach didn’t let me wear them in the court but I wore the crap out of them
My grandfather wore Converse as a basketball shoe in the 1930's . My dad wore them in the 1950's, I hated them and wore Cowboy boots or lace up " ankle biters" , tennis shoes never impressed me I hunt and ride horses too much.
Even in the 50s I looked at the shoes many kids used to wear and cringe. Some moms thought Converse and Radio Flyer were not proper shoes and bad for their children's feet, so they had to wear dress shoes as everyday shoes. I've heard that only about half of kids wore sneakers by the 50s. Many kids even wore these shoes around the house and sometimes even to play in. It wasn't till the 70s and mainly the 80s that sneakers became universal for kids. Only kids in some private schools didn't wear sneakers. No one over 13 wore sneakers to school unless they were playing sports until the 70s.
I wonder if Converse made the early Jungle Boots for soldiers and Marines who fought in the Pacific during WWII? The jungle boot design from the Vietnam era is one of my favorite boots. I have worn them as issued to me in Panama as a young Paratrooper back then. I have destroyed 2 pairs when I was there along with another 3 pairs in Hawaii from road marching and in the field. They were designed to be worn by an infantryman and last for 2 months in the jungle. The Desert Storm style boots became one of favorites because of the suede leather and nylon tops and neoprene soles which last longer. Today I still wear my Bellville Army issued desert combat boots which I was issued for Iraq back in 2006. These are wonderful boots and have lasted this long after wearing them for 2 years in Iraq in combat. When I was a kid back in the 70s and early 80s I have always worn Converse basketball shoes high tops. I really loved them but I kept destroying them and replaced them every time after summer before school started.
Hey i suggest doing an airsoft battle on the Battle of the Somme, its fought by the British, not the US but it still be cool Also keep doing videos, they the best.
I tried recreating the shoes on the converse site but there is no color that matches the color they used on the heal strip. Does anyone know if they removed the color or something like that?
Paint those awesome shoes? Paint? If you have to make the soles black then use a permanent black marker or black shoe polish or something like that. Converse deserves better then paint. :)
I am a fanboy of converse shoes I like that it is not to heavy and when I explore I'm the woods near my house I have to climb a bunch of high slopes so it's nice that my shoes aren't going to slip snd slide on dirt and rocks and me and my friends build a bunch of make shift shelters in the woods another think I also like about converse shoes is that they are comfortable on my foot with the canvas and the cushion I also like how the sole is thin so I feel like I'm still close to the ground I also like your videos alot and like how you did this video showing history and what we used to wear back in the day
Man i cant find any colors that match your guys’ shoes on the custom converse website. What specific color did you use on the actual canvas?? The closest thing i can find was offwhite
Gracias
Aye have you seen 1917

I'm a Converse fanatic so seeing you make these is beyond cool. Great acknowledgement of the history as well.
Glad you like them!
Could you do a video on how you made these?

i would like to recommend the swedish m59 marchingboot to you it's an extreamly good and sturdy boot
@John Frederickson well, still doesn’t mean it cant be used. They had some stuff they bought from around that time period.
I like converse with puttees and I have worn the same in the past but I prefer my m1943 buckle infantry boots as they offer more support, I like how they lace up like regular service shoes but has the leather cuff

Also, Why did you use red? The original Converse had NO RED the areas that appear reddish are actually brown. They've only discolored with age.
