I love learning about early engineering solutions, like that governor, and the purpose of the flywheel. If I were trying to design a steam engine from scratch, I probably wouldn't have thought of those. But it makes perfect sense when I see the engine in action. It's just really satisfying seeing a machine come together and function like this.
Please please please, let me win this with your signature. It would be the absolutely greatest charismas gift ever. I’ve watched you for so long and seen every episode. I was never into puzzles until I found you and now I’m absolutely hooked. Thank you for all you do!
Potato Pancake! I just figured everyone else would be saying how much they hoped to be the winner that I thought I'd try something different to grab your attention 😊 thanks for another awesome video Mr Puzzle, have a happy holiday and keep on puzzling!
That is a beautiful kit. Your friend will love it. Near the beginning, was that a slip of the tongue about a "spoiler break"? For a second there I thought "wait, this is a puzzle"?
Less than 2 mins in, and I want one. Such beautiful design and production. Fortunately, (maybe?) I'm totally running out of desk and shelf space for stuff like this. Even visiting the KontaX site recently I didn't purchase anything. Simplest solution? Buy another house, lol. Thank you for this; it brings back the past of when I marvelled at going to historical steam engines in Devon and Cornwall, and seeing the APT and Stephenson's Rocket 'parked' next to each other in York. And nobody back then had digital cameras!! Argh!!! That I'm short of space is probably a good thing. I could definitely spend thousands on this kind of thing. .. how much are new houses these days? .. hmmm. I need to look closer into this... 😂😂😂😂😊😅
I built a 2 cylinder steam engine in highschool metal working class. Only my friend and I made them because it was my idea 😀 They were really amazing, but unfortunatly, mine was lost in a move many years ago.
My cousin made a model of a working steam engine when we were kids. It came as a kit like this but a bit lower quality...more for education purposes. Pretty much the same thing tho'. It came as a model/kit that you put together. It ran on alcohol. I ran a tiny little incandescent bulb when done correctly. Fun! This one is much higher quality tho' and looks like fun to build and muck around with.
@@bluflaam777LSA Yeha, I actually crafted every single piece with lathe and milling machine and stuff. back in highschool. I was working on a paddleboat before i ended up moving...
I think you forgot the Spoiler Break Image this time, or at least you show it usually after saying "after the spoiler break" ;P Interesting kit, I quite dislike that the 2 holes in the boiler are slightly misaligned from top to bottom though!
Very Satisfying to see it running... There's something amazing about simple but complex nature of such machine. BTW: I don't know if you are aware of, or watch a TH-camr Quinn A.K.A. "Blondihacks" It's a machining channel and she builds projects that include boilers and steam engines. She is currently building a Pennsylvania A3 Switcher locomotive at 3.5" gauge (much bigger than the kit) and it will run on an actual track pulling cars and perhaps people around in the yard at a model railroad club. She is building this fantastic machine completely from scratch using her lathe and mill in her garage workshop and she explains the construction and concerns about pressure vessels. She's got over 50 videos on that project alone, and she is still building it. I have no association with the channel, but I find it very interesting to watch.
Collecting rocks are a cheap hobby. Fun for some, not for others. One can't put a price on 'hobbies'. They all cost "time, energy, treasure" One finds ways to support one's hobby and makes sacrifices when appropriate. ;^)
I like the "Jakemy". A little pricey but worth it IMO. It has every bit you'd use daily and others are available. It also has a 'magnetizer / demagnetizer' for those small fasteners that are hard to fiddle with. ;^)

This is incredible Christmas gift for someone lucky enough to receive it.
What a neat resource to learn how steam engines operate.
The best way to learn
I see Christmas came early for someone. Have a happy one.
The phrase "going balls out" comes from that governor valve.
Great kit and smooth runner
Just as satisfying to watch as the puzzles you normally do, and it’s always cool to see other things on the channel
Wow, just checked their website, and this thing is actually reasonably priced for what it is! Might have to get one
Great content as always! I loved how you show every detail of the assembly. I really appreciate the great content you share, Christian! 👏

Really awesome steam engine.

2:45 spoiler break?
It's not a puzzle but a DIY Kit

Hi, have you got the pully on the fly wheel and the bracket around the wrong way?
Yes! He did. Man, a DeLorean with a Flux Capacitor would be so useful right now...

No spoiler cause it's not a puzzle. Duh
Pense que era el mr puzzle de smg4😅

Yes, the bearing brackets were angled quite a lot initially, I shouted back in time but you didn't hear me...

I will check it out
This is a great project! I love man(woman)made machines of all types.
It's real shame the website keeps presenting a modal pop up to collect an email address and won't let you look around a bit.
Anyone else have a Mouse Trap(tm) flashback?
Why didn't Mecano evolve in this direction.. c'mon.. I would have tons of the stuff by now.
I don't consider this a puzzle.

Nice kit. Too expensive for a hobbiest.

Sir, where do I get this electric screw driver? It is so small!🥹
