Coming from Manchester, everything is crazily realistic, from Old Trafford (the stadium) to Oxford road and Piccadilly, and even Beetham Tower (the huge glass skyscraper) Props to whoever made this.
You get double flashing yellow, then single flashing yellow, then a single yellow with route indicator/theatre box. Flashing yellows just show that diverging route has been set. The signalling is poor however....you would never get a green at the end of Old Trafford station. Also signals behind the train [Oxford road] are 'off' green/yellow which would never happen.
That Oxford road station is really realistic. I commute 5 days a week from Preston lancs, to Manchester Oxford road on the Manny Airport train. Fantastic realism, and quality. Also Squirrel had a SPAD (Signal passed at danger)
Just a tip to be efficient with your breaking.. When you first break with your consist, learn how strong the breaks are when you stop at your first station. Then next time so you won't be late break at the full application then slowly ease off the breaks when you're about to stop for passenger comfort at speeds higher than 35mph. (No point putting the breaks into suppression at 15mph, unless you're really bad at judging your breaking point. Haha). Also, the distance from each signal is 500m in suburban lines. So, instead of touching the breaks to slow to a speed with a PD of 5mph for a speed change 1km back, save time and do it as late as possible.
hey squirrel, most british trains are 2 coach, companies just put lots of them together, the class 158 is part of the class 150 family that replaced the Class 101/117/108/105/118/120/122/121in the 80's. the class 150 family has a 1 coach class 153, and then a 2 coach class 150/1, a class 156 and then the express class 158, these trains were instrumental in saving the final branch lines in the uk.
Ah the Class 158, I loved it when they turned up at Colne railway station (no, not "Colne Valley", Colne, as in Lancashire!), always referred to them as "the comfy trains", rare as rocking horse excrement on that particular line... :)
I go to Manchester University and so use these stations a lot and the modelling is incredible, Im surprised how well they have been done! Especially Oxford Rd which is such a complex station
The scenery and modelling of the stations, especially Oxford Road, is brilliant. Instantly recognisable to the times I traveled through there regularly. Keep up the good work from a fellow Sintelliner! (Though well done on the move south!)
Nice video, as usual, Paul. When you're at a station in outside view press 8, and you'll go into free roam mode. Tilt the cam view down, and press the down arrow key, and now you'll be able to fly up away from the station and get a better view of it. You'll also see more ai people.
Hi Paul, I live along this line and have been on the class 158 from Warrington to Oxford Road. I would say the line and stations are pretty well modelled
Living 'on' the Carlisle Settle line (a very hilly route with the highest station in England) I have experience of these trains and I must say they manage the hills alright but in winter.... Enjoy cold platforms for and extra 45 mins and probably miss you connection :)
I have a very good railway layout in my loft. I actually have the locomotives you were driving. I love your videos! Keep up the good work with recording!
I drive over the route with TPE....the route is very well done indeed, albeit, it's supposed to be 10-20 years ago, it has modern buildings and Oxford Road has lifts which were only put in a year ago! There are a couple of signals missing and we don't get flashing yellow lights. Mine had problems with Hunts Cross station....but others seem to have a 'problem free' version. Some scenarios [50%] won't load on mine and a 'collision crash' occurs near Hunts Cross which I found out to be a freight train routed into Allerton Depot and hits a berthed 158! lol All in all....very good if it works! The signals were green at Oxford Road when you came in...but the scenario reverts them back to red for some reason....does with me too!
Flashing yellow means you're about to change track, it is like a normal yellow but instead of leading up to a danger (red) it leads up to a diverging route/track change.
Two carriages for the local stopping train Manchester to Liverpool is the norm. There is a larger limited stop train on a less regular schedule. Funnily enough that is the one that often gets cancelled.
Hey Paul, I totally agree with you about the train doors I live in Melbourne Australia and on our trains you have to open the doors yourself ! Guess it saves power costs Ps cant wait for YOTS
Living in Manchester, the scenery is simply fantastic. If I was to be a pedant, I would say that the giant Tetris block in Manchester city centre should be a bit fatter and wider, as it seems a bit to thin to me, but, as I said, that really is being pedantic.
Amazing scenery, I live near Oxford road and have been there. The simulator scenery is almost exactly the same as in real life. I know the other stations in Manchester as well and they are all great!! Amazing game by the looks of it.
Does anybody else have this problem in ETS2 with the G27 Wheel? Every time i step on the brake pedal my engine turns off, I've tried re-mapping both the main and alternative keys (for the engine) and it still turns off when i brake
Im a really big train fan and I never had a fast enough pc to play my pc games. And by the way how dk you open doors.? Can I get any suggestions for a good pc to play games on?
How come you don't get ready to start signals from the conductors on these simulators? 158s are not and never have been driver only operated in passenger service. Also that sounds nothing like a 158 accelerating or braking.
Track IR letting you look behind into where no train is has to do wit what part of the train actually has been modeled. As soon as you change view, all other unused views stop rendering. So if you're in the drivers view, the passengers view and outside of the train aren't being rendered, since it's not needed. That's also why the rear of most train cabins haven't been modeled. There's nothing interesting to see there, so why model it if you can simply limit the camera so that it's not visible?
Would be SOOOOO cool to get Multiplayer in TS.... brilliant game just would like that extra element now that we have Track IR support... Probably never ever happen, but anyone agree it would be amazing?
Coming from Manchester, everything is crazily realistic, from Old Trafford (the stadium) to Oxford road and Piccadilly, and even Beetham Tower (the huge glass skyscraper) Props to whoever made this.

25:08 to the left that truck with the red shipping crate is drifting!
These trains used to run between Glasgow and Edinburgh, and they did so for years. When you blew the horn it brought back memories of the journey.

It's actually scary how realistic the entire route you took is. I did it a few days ago and it's pretty much spot on minus the branding etc.
Ah the Class 158, I loved it when they turned up at Colne railway station (no, not "Colne Valley", Colne, as in Lancashire!), always referred to them as "the comfy trains", rare as rocking horse excrement on that particular line... :)
The scenario, environment and textures are spot on. The route actually looks like that in reality. Was pretty exciting watching that vid.
The realism here with the stations is incredible especially Piccadilly it's so well made
It is ultra realistic I live near Manchester Oxford road
I go to Manchester University and so use these stations a lot and the modelling is incredible, Im surprised how well they have been done! Especially Oxford Rd which is such a complex station
"and the crows of fans excitedly head to the stadium. DO THEY REALLY?"
That cracked me up!
This train looks even better in the EMT reskin and it's more realistic as the 158s which run on this line are in that livery.
From a guy who lives in Manchester and uses the trains a lot that scenery is surreal
Manchester Oxford Road looks spot on. So does Manchester Picc. I used to travel on this route daily.
The scenery and modelling of the stations, especially Oxford Road, is brilliant. Instantly recognisable to the times I traveled through there regularly. Keep up the good work from a fellow Sintelliner! (Though well done on the move south!)
It looks exactly like Oxford road station, I went yesterday aswell on the way home from warrington
Nice video, as usual, Paul. When you're at a station in outside view press 8, and you'll go into free roam mode. Tilt the cam view down, and press the down arrow key, and now you'll be able to fly up away from the station and get a better view of it. You'll also see more ai people.
Oxford road looks spot on, I recognize the palace theatre to the left
Gosh - Regional Railways. That takes us back to 1995 (before I was born).
No joke, I have been to Manchester Oxford Road loads of times and that is literally the same.
As a Man Utd thats the best start to a train journey ever
All stations were scarily realistic, lived in Manchester all my life and work near Piccadilly!
The Class 158s were the first Diesel Multiple Units to have air conditioning fitted to the passengers area and the driver's cab
Hi Paul, I live along this line and have been on the class 158 from Warrington to Oxford Road. I would say the line and stations are pretty well modelled
Those trains run between Aberdeen (my home town) to Inverness and most of Scottish local services.
Living 'on' the Carlisle Settle line (a very hilly route with the highest station in England) I have experience of these trains and I must say they manage the hills alright but in winter.... Enjoy cold platforms for and extra 45 mins and probably miss you connection :)
Welcome to 301+ club , all services not really provided here, But special services at April 1st.
I have a very good railway layout in my loft. I actually have the locomotives you were driving. I love your videos! Keep up the good work with recording!
23:23 the buses on rails thing is more literal on the 2/3 car pacers, which are literally a bus with rail wheels stuck on. Not even bogies...

All in all....very good if it works!
The signals were green at Oxford Road when you came in...but the scenario reverts them back to red for some reason....does with me too!
I think this train is an early TS addon so it's been adapted for the latter versions, hence why the doors open so quick!
Well done Paul for the full time thingy
Northern Rail have a couple of 3 car sets like this which they regularly us on the Manchester Victoria and Blackpool North services.
Flashing yellow means you're about to change track, it is like a normal yellow but instead of leading up to a danger (red) it leads up to a diverging route/track change.
Manchester Oxford Road is very realistic, especially the bit out side the reception.
yeah
Another great Squirrel video!! GG
Two carriages for the local stopping train Manchester to Liverpool is the norm. There is a larger limited stop train on a less regular schedule. Funnily enough that is the one that often gets cancelled.
I currently live in Manchester and the Deansgate and Oxford road station look pretty well modelled!
Been to that station many of times, looks very realistic
the oxford road station is literally identical to the real one, all the colors on buildings are correct too
Oxford Road station is accurate apart from the lady of litter. The tower of the Refuge Assurance building is also accurate.
You forgot to change the description! ;)
Ikr it's copy and paste
He probably has it on reccuring description
as a liverpool fan, this is highly offensive but as its you paul, have a like and YOTS!
Xgamer manZ i hate manchester united...
Ben Dover
Soccer sucks anyway...GO MANU!
IMrI Mike no United fan calls the club MANU btw..
Man u are pooooooooooooooo liverpool are the team to support
you know this is not a channel for football, if you want to talk about football, go to copa 90, kick tv or football daily
Great vid! This lookes really really well modelled, coming from somebody who uses that route very often!
Hey Paul,
I totally agree with you about the train doors I live in Melbourne Australia and on our trains you have to open the doors yourself ! Guess it saves power costs
Ps cant wait for YOTS
Manchester Piccadilly is also really realistic except the amount of people around.
Living in Manchester, the scenery is simply fantastic. If I was to be a pedant, I would say that the giant Tetris block in Manchester city centre should be a bit fatter and wider, as it seems a bit to thin to me, but, as I said, that really is being pedantic.
I've been to Oxford road about 16 times and that is a very realistic model
WE WANT OMSI 2!!!
The worlds most boring game it's just a opinion don't take it personaly
For you, yes. For me,no.But everyone has an opinion. This is why the world is so beautiful and diverse :)
Gaurean Andrei Then don't say "we", say I would like to see some more OMSI 2 videos ;)
Captain Krunchz he was referring to me when he said we... ;)
and me....!
fun fact: manchester united is the only club in britain that has its own train station called old trafford
Amazing scenery, I live near Oxford road and have been there. The simulator scenery is almost exactly the same as in real life. I know the other stations in Manchester as well and they are all great!! Amazing game by the looks of it.
I live in Manchester and its nearly the same
Does anybody else have this problem in ETS2 with the G27 Wheel? Every time i step on the brake pedal my engine turns off, I've tried re-mapping both the main and alternative keys (for the engine) and it still turns off when i brake
I reckon the number of home fans was about right for match day. 😂
i gone Manchester 2 Liverpool so many times and the detail into the route is amazing and i hope they bring Manchester 2 Blackpool out 1day
Im a really big train fan and I never had a fast enough pc to play my pc games. And by the way how dk you open doors.? Can I get any suggestions for a good pc to play games on?
Great video paul, can't wait for YOTS!
Happy DOTS = Day of the Squirrel
MrGreendew2 no is yots day not dots day
the 158 are always 2 coaches the 159 which is the same train but with 3 coaches is the ideal train to use.
Can't wait till tomorrow 😄😄
#YOTS
#YOTS
YOTS, or Year Of The Squirrel, is suppose to be the year that Paul/Squirrel goes full time.
Skybluex So... In 2h time?
We actually passed that date. Squirrel set it to be on April 2nd. So as of right now, he is finally going full time :)
I Live In Manchester Paul, And this is pretty accurate. Even has the Hilton Skyscraper Hotel in the background :) Nice train actually :P
oxford road is almost to the DOT but they are missing the big middle bit very close though
the oxford road station is pritty well modeled
Oxford road looked really accurate
YOTS now! Now there's no excuse to not do VATSIM (FSX)
coming from manchester and being to most of those stations they are all well modeled
Good video Paul! Nice and interesting scenario! Keep them TS videos coming!
Amazing video keep up good work fella
How come you don't get ready to start signals from the conductors on these simulators? 158s are not and never have been driver only operated in passenger service. Also that sounds nothing like a 158 accelerating or braking.
Very good video, my only complaint was that the simulator didn't look populated enough, otherwise interesting commentary and a good video, thanks :)
Looks like a London Midland train at the front.
why are there no low platforms on mainline stations in Britain?
Traveling from Sunny Side Yard to Stamford in the Amtrak Acela Express. Ah what??.. I don't really think thats it
it is never sunny in manchester
Track IR letting you look behind into where no train is has to do wit what part of the train actually has been modeled. As soon as you change view, all other unused views stop rendering. So if you're in the drivers view, the passengers view and outside of the train aren't being rendered, since it's not needed. That's also why the rear of most train cabins haven't been modeled. There's nothing interesting to see there, so why model it if you can simply limit the camera so that it's not visible?
As somebody who live's in Manchester and visit's Deansgate, OxRd & Pic daily... Waaay too realistic.
Is this the base game or is this an extension?
Does Squirrel buy the expensive extensions? I'm new to the channel, so I don't know.
This ''might" be an extention but im not sure
Good luck paul for tommorrow, all the best for the future!!! :D
How Much Is It For Track IR
Hey Squirrel, don't judge me but what is 'TrackIR'?
Every detail is realistic, I live near there
It was fantastically realistic even the big Hilton hotel was great! #YOTS
Wednvhnxv w z y
i grew up in manchester and is can reconize every thing
Unfortunately doors on 158s don't open that quickly in real life.
I also think of trains as buses on rails...
I think they should have the doors open quickly but close slowly, in real life!
the game has a few flat textures and a few missing buildings but overall it is very well modelled! unlike some other things dovetail do........
Would be SOOOOO cool to get Multiplayer in TS.... brilliant game just would like that extra element now that we have Track IR support... Probably never ever happen, but anyone agree it would be amazing?
Do the wheels on the trains actually move?
Regional railways is still around?
I've been to Manchester Oxford road and it's the exact same as real life.
But reception is different
you know that 158 I have been on that up in Scotland because 158/7s and some 158/8s run is Scotland
That was the shortest train route
Good to hear your from St Helens, I live down the road in Widnes, great videos, but we need more ETS 2 videos :)
I love your train simulator vids. Their sick
hey squirel how u doin dude i watch nearly all your videos man u make cool train sim videos keep em coming pal i will always watch
Its 2 years ago now so it hardly matters... but your Train arrived at 12:23... kick of is at 3pm at 12:23 everyone is still in town having a beer :D
I am a beautiful person who is a bit more about the new year. I have to do so by turning up.
