This is what lead blacks to freedom. Some of the first books slaves ever read was the bible and this is powerful coming from a jewish director.

This was one of my favorite scenes in the movie. As a Christian it was so beautiful to see how Jesus' life eased a bit of the Africans' suffering and gave them hope.

Real or not, it’s a powerful story any way you look at it, and it’s fascinating to see these characters/people from such a wildly different culture making their own sense of it.

@Mink monk Hoy He was Jewish. Reported by a few historians of the time and started a world wide movement, the jerusalem branch led for 50 years by HIS BROTHER, james.

I always loved this scene because it makes the viewer see the story of Jesus with fresh eyes, too, almost as if we were also Cinque, who had also never heard of this story. What we call halos = “Everywhere he goes he is followed by the sun”, etc.. it gives the viewer a chance to see their own stories with a fresh eye, helping them to let go of their predisposed trappings and perhaps see something anew that has been staring them in the face the whole time, but they couldn’t see it because they were so accustomed to it as an assumption.

I dreamed of this movie a night before I ever seen it. I cried throughout the movie n in the end, the buildings they bombed to free those ppl? I dreamed i was there as a child with a bunch of other children & we were very unhappy n we had to be quit all the time n there were a bunch of nuns standing over us all the time n the dream was over. The next day I seen the movie .. These ppl belong in heaven n they are heroes for me💖 They also got to know the true God who is always covered by a light over his head or is surrounded by light. I will always bless them & big up this movie. A cry for freedom🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊

"When the white man came to Africa, the white man had the Bible and the African had the land, but now it is the white man who is being, reluctantly and bloodily, separated from the land, and the African who is still attempting to digest or to vomit up the Bible." Stop giving your evil ancesters a pat on the back cause the only thing they have on their hands is Blood.

No one knows what color Jesus was. I believe God understood human nature and knew if Jesus was fully described as white or black or brown etc. that group of people would try to claim being the same color as Jesus made them superior to other races. And you know what? People do it anyways without proof. Jewish people are the most guilty of this idea and willingly claim they are the chosen race of God and openly call all other races Goy and word meaning cattle. It is so shameful that people have blasphemed God in such a way.
