Super Power Soap goes international! At the end of an essential trip to Ghana, West Africa in December, I carved out a morning to take a soap making workshop with a local instructor. This class was taught by Justice Annan who runs "Soap Making Training by Creators Foundation-Ghana".

Cold process Papaya/Pawpaw, Carrot, & Honey Soap is a common type of soap in Ghana. It is a natural soap made from key ingredients found in local markets. My teacher described the carrot in the soap as source of Vitamin C. Surprisingly, the papaya contributes some skin lightening properties. Although I am a soap maker myself, I rarely add fresh produce to my soap and wanted the opportunity to practice this with an expert in this area.
Enjoy the highlights of this experience and look out for a few more videos from this workshop in the playlist. Unfortunately, I unknowingly didn't capture sound and had to do voiceovers but you can still see the basic parts of the process.
    Ingredients:
    •Papaya
    •Carrots
    •Oil
    •Lanolin
    •Honey
    •Glycerin
    •Stearic Acid
    •Citric Acid
    •Glycerin
    Steps:
    1. Mix water and lye
    2. Heat oils on cooktop
    3. Peel, slice, and puree papaya and carrots
    4. Thoroughly stick blend the pureed papaya and carrots with the heated oils
    5. Add the lye/water mixture to the oil mixture and stick blend to medium trace
As a knowledgeable soap maker and soap making teacher, I got so much out of Justice's class. I had a great time expanding my knowledge about soap making practices, learning scientific aspects about how soap is made, and learned about Ghana's local soap making ingredients and unique methods. This class is well suited for beginners and advanced soap makers.
