How to: Making "Miso flavored grounded pork" using thing I can get in the U.S.

  • Living in the U.S., there is a time when you crave for a Japanese side dish to go with rice.
    The side dish "Niku-miso" is one of them.
    [Note]
    Niku-miso is a well-known side dish made using grounded or finely chopped meat.
    The recipe introduced here is made using pork, but could be beef or chicken too.
    I first met this "Niki-miso" in Kagoshima prefecture (Southern part of Japan), and really loved it, so I reproduced it with the ingredients I can find in the U.S.
    ■Recipe (change amount as you like)
    [Ingredients]
    ・10 cloves of Garlic
    ・1 thumb sized Ginger
    ・3 Green Onions
    ・3 Shiitake Mushroom
    ・1 pound (500 gram) Ground pork
    [Flavoring]
    ・2 tablespoon sesame oil
    ・2 tablespoon 'mirin' (sweet rice wine)
    ・3 tablespoon 'miso'
