The entire “glow up” culture is so exhausting. All these girls are lovely normal looking people, and the “glow up” makes them look like flat creepy dolls. Do people really think that’s better? I suffered from extreme body image issues for years to the point where I thought I may have body dysmorphia. Name a single body part and I'd be able to list off several problems that I had with it, down to even my thumbs. This insanity was exacerbated by the beauty standards set by TikTok and Instagram. I have gone through a lot of healing to get to a point where I mostly just don't give a shit anymore. I went through therapy and read tons of feminist books until I finally, truly believed deep down that the way I look does NOT define me. I realised that just because I have all these little flaws on my body doesn't mean I'm disgusting and that it's normal not to look perfect. And even if I am ugly, so what? I'm in a loving relationship and have great friends, and it's what I offer to the world through my words and actions that matters more than my external appearance. Once you realise that it's impossible to meet all of these standards and just give up, it's SO freeing. I know it is easier said than done but I really think more women need to wake up and think critically about the impact of all of this shit on their sanity. You said that chasing pretty leaves us poorer and more miserable than ever. You're absolutely correct, and a lot of feminists suspect this is all by design. What I mean is, how can women notice and do something about all the glaring flaws in our society if we're all depressed and starving ourselves to meet ridiculously impossible beauty standards? Big boobs and ass were in for like 5 years, now we're back to stick thin. If I were these people, I would report it immediately and fight for compensation. These girls are not models who agreed to this, they didn't even know about it.

Also, something I occasionally point out about attraction: The stereotypically attractive features that are important vary from person to person. I'm most attracted to girls with a slim figure, and won't be bothered by features considered unattractive if she's got that. I knew a slim girl who had frizzy hair (not considered appealing at the time,) very bad acne scarring and a hooked nose, and I found her very attractive. So much so that when someone mentions acne scarring, I immediately think of her, and thus my mind links the phrase "acne scarring" with "pretty girl," even though I don't think acne scarring itself is attractive. Your features that ARE attractive are much more important than the ones that aren't.

I think it might be illegal to just take a photo/Tiktok of someone, edit it, and then sell your stuff, like makeup tips. it's simple image theft, making money off someone without their knowledge. recording tiktoks using someone else's photo/video itself is not illegal (the quotation law allows it), but it's different when we make money on it, like this account. If I were these people, I would report it immediately and fight for compensation. These girls are not models who agreed to this, they didn't even know about it.
