Agree that decision making would be based on financial status. Taking the same approach, based on my experience in us:
Rich class: get degree and go back. Why? You get to experience US, it keeps you grounded as you will learn to take care of yourself (cooking, laundry, cleaning, etc, all these are outsourced back in India if you are rich or from upper middle class). I have seen friends mature after living here and also who left after 3mo not able to cope with all the things they have to do. Taking care of their family business or starting a new business in India would make sense for this category
The rest: Make a plan to return to India, 5yr or 10yr goal. What are the major expenses in India? House, car and savings for retirement. imagine if you plan these out based on your financial status and income in US. Once taken care of, you can return and live comfortably in India with friends, family, celebrate festivals & eat delicious food; the 4 F’s which you miss in US.
Keep in mind downsides of living India and try to mitigate those with your decisions:
Security, food, electricity: prefer gated community & be mindful in which area you buy your house
Food: you cannot trust vegetables/fruits in India, may want to go to source & trusted sellers even if it costs a bit higher. Health is wealth.
Fresh air: A larger gated community, which is little away from huzzle and buzzle of city but still close enough to schools.
Society: may need to find other returnees with whom it is easier to gel
Lastly, return before your kids are too old…(

You forgot about laws. Laws in India are bad be it divorce laws, prenup not having legal status, 498A, real estate litigation laws, etc. India is a regressive country. Not as regressive as Afghanistan but not as liberal as USA or even better like Netherlands.

1 crore savings is less for a decade of work in USA. But if you have to ever deal with Indian judiciary for anything like divorce, prenup being illegal, real estate litigation laws where a goon with political backing can occupy your house and make double registration then you are screwed.
So Indians run to developed countries for money + laws.

I saw many folks who come here for 5 or 7 years and want to return. But it's a fair tail with a booby trap. You will become accustomed to the American way of life, and your children will be unable to return to India if they are over the age of 13. They do not care where you are from in India, and in some cases, they do not even consider extended family. So it's essentially a branch of your family tree that only has your surname but is never in sync/idential with folks back home. When you get close to retirement, you feel alone because of how social life is. coming to the saving I can hardly say you have saving of close to 2.5X compared what you can save in INDIA.

There are 1.8 Million people waiting to get these GC status, no matter how many Indian born politican riase this its not going to get move in congress .The last time they did somehitng to DACA was less than 1million, they have given mass apprvoal for starting to change their status changed which is still battled in the court and they are pawn for politicians to show you are the taking something from people who live here, which happned for H1B visa holders
3.Unless it's move that will be pushed from large entties it;s not gonna move, example recenlty they had chip act which is largley influcenced by organisations who want to make money, may be they might throw getting visas who work in those fileds
4.The system is well in place you spend atleasrt 15% of your earnings in this process hoping you might get some sort of stability, but I think times have changed so much, now there no issue supply( Indians coming to USA), the issue is with Quality and demand.
5.From 360 dgree view, the issues we face day to day are considered prevliged minority who are all earning above median avergage income of US, would not be considered a topic of discussion or a politicians to pick it up make burning topic, there are virture signaling politicians and tech CEO ,keyboard activits in twitter who talk about it, that where it ends
6.Finally these 1.8 million and the one dreamiing leaving countires spending their savings to create a life, its just a false hope leaving far from your contry and loved ones cannot travel back to your country with visa issues, it like the golden cage you dont want leave and you cant stay, but you are dead inside the time you reazlise it.
At the end Is it worth it ?

It's worth coming to US, just don't live like this, don't live paycheck to paycheck, eventually things you own will end up owning you, live with in your means, save some money.
You tied up yourself and your family in never ending EMI cycle.... There is more to life than living like this.

I am in similar situation i140 approved … still struggling with exact same issues … my dad was sick last year I could not visit … so many times I feel like giving everything up and go back to…. Salary may be less .. work may be more but this stress won’t be there …
I see so many students struggling for jobs … I haven’t seen situation so bad in last 10 years … pandemic was there but pandemic bought biggest boom also …
    Now it’s worst market
