@@mitchell3876 I've had an 850 EVO for a while now and my boot times are already 6- 7s (desktop) on my laptop it's 1.8 - 2s- during school it'd be a running joke all I'd have to do is click the power button and I'm at the desktop whilst everyone else was still loading (everyone was given the same laptop but I took the liberty to modify mine as it would soon be handed off to my mom). Most people don't realize that you've often times got either unimportant or unnecessary services/apps that slow you down. You can go into your task manager > Startup. Chief among these offenders can be things like Microsoft OneDrive, ItunesHelper, Steam, Dashlane, Backblaze, Logitech gaming (or other peripheral apps). If you disable them you have nothing to lose. Because, if you need (say) to access your onedrive, what do you normally do? Open it. Thus why have additional things running and slowing you down when you can either stop them or have them start delayed. Also, simply because you disable it, doesn't mean it's not going to work. For example- in my scenario I have a G502 and K70 RGB keyboard. The profiles, macros, etc everything functions the same and you can see in the system tray that they indeed are working as normal, EXCEPT this time they aren't adding further delay for me to get into my desktop upon boot. @@spedracer55 Works well for you? Tbh I'm starting to think configuration for a good case for airflow, with good fans doesn't make a huge amount of difference.
I just installed my system into this case last night! Had been using a Corsair 700D full tower since 2011! I don't quite remember the turning point but I have become quite the ROG fanboi over the years. I bought their 1200w Thor PSU at the same time as this case. Already had their 360mm AIO cooler, 4090 OC (the BIG BOI), Z690 Gaming Wifi board and their precious little RGB GPU anti-sag thingy. But for some reason I'm using Corsair DDR5 memory, which is the only RGB component I have that isn't Aura Sync compatible... :( Just FYI I'm running the stock fan configuration and the 360mm AIO is top mounted and setup in exhaust mode. I have not done any thermal testing yet.
The description of this case's features reminds me of the movie The Pentagon Wars. Someone seems to have come up with a great idea, and then had a ton of "management decisions" added to it.
This review couldnt have come at a better time! Was planning on getting one and it seems that this review set me on aio cooling the cpu on the count of the air-cooled cpu thermals. Huge thanks! ❤️
I built the PC I'm using in a 2004 Antec 1080amg. It weighs 35.5lbs (16.1kg) empty, 1mm thick steal makes for a beefy box. It's not a pretty case, but between its looks and weight, a thief would probably just ignore it. Now I just need to figure out how I'm going to make this monitor look old and crappy. But modding this old case has been fun. Got my 1060 running at a max of 60C at full load on air. This channel has taught me so much. Thanks for the content !
Good work GN as always! Your strict methodology and your comparative graphs are one of the biggest contributions to the PC community imo. Would you also consider reviewing the ASUS TUF GT501 case?
this is one of your best vids Steve, the way you put Asus on front street regarding marketing bs saying that it's great for lan parties... "this is not the enclosure.... TO BRING TO A LAN PARTY! even for the rare person THAT ATTENDS MORE THAN ONE PER DECADE"
They see no need for them. Pretty sure Steve called them stupid at one point. The case only gets used once. Maybe twice if it's the case for the disappointment build for the year.
at this time of whiting this post i have had this case for about a year now and i just love this case i really dont care how heavy it is but it is hard to bring it up and down stars when i take it for work done. my Rig is almost a complete ASUS build all i need is a PSU. overall just love this case and mine is silver
I used to lug around a 40kg Eizo CRT under one arm and a 20+kg Coolermaster CM Stacker under the other. All these flatscreens and microtowers are breeding even weaker nerds. Its not a proper LAN party if you don't arrive bulkier than when you left home and sweaty ;D
I love my case I've had mine now for 3 years now and I can say its held up very well I have the white version of the case and love everything except for the tempered plastic cover
The only question this video left me with is, If a 360 CLC was added for the CPU at the top of the case in top exhaust configuration would the GPU thermals suffer?
Doug from ASUS and Steve I showed this video to our engineers about the heaviness. They informed me you need to take in some sun and work out. However, I apologize to let you know we sent out an early prototype. The new one has built in air traction tires and pull-out graphite composite handle
wanted to comment on this as I have the very overpriced NGE themed version of this case and I admit I got it due to the NGE theme and it not being a bad case in a sea of NGE cases that are all trash..... I generally agree with every part of this video but overall am still very happy to this day with my case. No way am I moving it when I don't have a need, it is heavy, going up and down stairs is in fact scary..... but it has a great feeling of quality with the build itself, if I ever break it I did something very wrong I should have never done. I did get a asus PSU after updating some parts in the end and it does pair really well with it, additionally the psu I got displays the active wattage use and I actually like that feature a lot.... about the fan control button, I prefer having my system intelligently run the fans with a profile but there is a way to configure this to be the case it just isn't the way it comes out initially, I would change it if you don't want to be responsible for kicking it into high gear through a button when you need it. I also love the height and did not hear mention as it may be a given but this case stands higher off the ground and I don't see any potential need for something like a riser for it, it also was too large for my old riser and I think these two facts are not coincidental.... I over payed for a case but also I love it as I am a big NGE fanboy and the case is far from bad as stated, I would buy it again no questions.
Same, I bought a tower holder or whatever it's called lol can't remember the name but now it allows me to move it around to clean under it or whatever else
Handles....cause, you know, you just love taking your EATX PC with you to LAN parties. Congratulations, Asus. You filled another void that had no reason to be filled.

That is a BMF case! It reminds me of the size of my old HAF932. It looks even bigger. I'm hoping that you will be doing a review of the new Fractal Vision TG case. Seeing how they did thermally now that they finally gave in to the full glass case bandwagon would be interesting. It likely won't be much different that the Define S2 since the panels on that case are pretty much solid in the same places they put glass on the new case. Interesting, nonetheless, to see what your thoughts on it are. Thank you for yet another great case review!
Great review as always =). I guess it wouldn't hurt having this much workout on every review. Any chance of reviewing Phanteks Entho Pro M and other Phanteks cases?
I'm not going to argue that some ROG products are definitely overpriced, but they have many great ROG products that are actually not that bad values at all. I've loved my Rampage IV Extreme I've been using ever since 2012, for example.
@@hipnotyq I think thats not how it works it is the same card with an other design and koeling etc. Same base clock if you overclock your strix and another 1080 you will get the same results.
Not the first time Asus has tried breaking into the case market... about a decade or so back they did make budget $30-50 cases like Antec, Coolermaster & Thermaltake did but they also had a PC case called 'Vento' that looked like a stormtrooper helmet or a penis if you downed a shot of vodka, slapped yourself in the face real hard then squinted when you looked at it. Im sure they had a small range of cases but competition exploded with the likes of NZXT. Antec, Coolermaster & Thermaltake. Thermaltake in particular seems less prevalent on the market as they did about 10-15years ago. When the market for gaming cases boomed, they were really strong and had some really good looking cases. One of my best cases from them was the 'Shark' case but they had so many more. They seemed to have tried their hand at everything but the market is so heavily contested that they almost just gave up and let themselves sink to the bottom. At least they are still trying though, Unlike Zalman -- another big name of days gone by that is nothing more than a shell of its former self.

I look forward to seeing some more cases in the future. I think they can pull it off with something better. This kinda a test run I think and they will improve on this design
I remember trying to build a PC in a micro ATX case so I could take it to places. It turned out to be heavy AF so I never moved it. When I got a GTX 1080 I had to move to an ATX case instead. Went from a Cooler Master N200 to an N300 (With acrylic window!) It actually somehow seemed lighter after that. Probably because it wasn't so dense. Now I'm in the process of building a new one, using the Meshify C as the case. It's going to be heavier this time. I'm not going anywhere with it =P Only a few more parts to go.

4:50 the way you say purpose sounds like that "perfect" tag rappers use in songs lol
The very BEST case I've ever owned and still use. I will NEVER have to buy another case no matter what I do! Build quality is beyond excelent. You deffinetly NEED the straps!
What fan configuration did you go for may I ask?
@@andrewhezekiahdaniel I have 3 fans at the front 1 exhaust in the back and the aio up top with 3 fans
most of the heat comes out the top of the case
Just FYI I'm running the stock fan configuration and the 360mm AIO is top mounted and setup in exhaust mode. I have not done any thermal testing yet.
I greatly appreciate that half the psu shroud is removable. "It's really not terrible." A standing ovation!
The description of this case's features reminds me of the movie The Pentagon Wars. Someone seems to have come up with a great idea, and then had a ton of "management decisions" added to it.
0:30 a moment when Steve has three hands :)
My god u putting the case on the table probably shook it more than it has ever while shipping
Good work GN as always! Your strict methodology and your comparative graphs are one of the biggest contributions to the PC community imo. Would you also consider reviewing the ASUS TUF GT501 case?
Building a MSI RIG in a ASUS ROG Case.. #MadLad
this is one of your best vids Steve, the way you put Asus on front street regarding marketing bs saying that it's great for lan parties... "this is not the enclosure.... TO BRING TO A LAN PARTY! even for the rare person THAT ATTENDS MORE THAN ONE PER DECADE"
Asus: Can't remove the front panel, glorious RGB with a strix logo is more important.
i know the video is old but the case fits a 420 artic cooler aio witch is a huge plus with cooling a 5950x.
Tempered glass+lower airflow < mesh+high airflow
Is there a specific reason all your builds are always missing the I/O shield????
They see no need for them. Pretty sure Steve called them stupid at one point. The case only gets used once. Maybe twice if it's the case for the disappointment build for the year.
It's made for people who buy every Asus component out there... . . . . . Linus!
i wish lan parties were still a thing
I feel like it would look a lot better with a strix motherboard and graphics card...
Well, they should've sent it along with that case then
hmmm I think you guys need to check out the Cougar Panzer Max case and put it's airflow to the test.
Linus' hair got really long. It has to be Linus, cause who else handles a case like that.
0:35 the hand optical ilusion, the hand on the top of the case does not seems to be Steve's hahahaha!
You sure about the portability?
at this time of whiting this post i have had this case for about a year now and i just love this case i really dont care how heavy it is but it is hard to bring it up and down stars when i take it for work done. my Rig is almost a complete ASUS build all i need is a PSU. overall just love this case and mine is silver
A ROG Case, filled with MSI, nice ! :D
Best place for case reviews. Period.
I used to lug around a 40kg Eizo CRT under one arm and a 20+kg Coolermaster CM Stacker under the other. All these flatscreens and microtowers are breeding even weaker nerds.
Its not a proper LAN party if you don't arrive bulkier than when you left home and sweaty ;D
gains from LAN parties, NICE
I love my case I've had mine now for 3 years now and I can say its held up very well I have the white version of the case and love everything except for the tempered plastic cover
As mush i love ROG and that sexy front panel, i wouldn never change this for my H500M, even for free
Boi, I woudn't even trade my battered old Core 3000 for this thing.
This case is excellent. Huge, with supreme build quality.
The only question this video left me with is, If a 360 CLC was added for the CPU at the top of the case in top exhaust configuration would the GPU thermals suffer?
That's the loudest case on the planet at 0 RPM.
This reminds me a bit of that super expensive AIO they did a while back. Weird.
yeah wasnt that $280 also? its like they just pulled that number out of their ass
Someone should buy it, and fill it with MSI parts or something.
@Fellow accelerationist absolute MaD lAd
@Fellow accelerationist that isnt special.... asrock was created by asus and owned for some time 😂
Doug from ASUS and Steve I showed this video to our engineers about the heaviness. They informed me you need to take in some sun and work out. However, I apologize to let you know we sent out an early prototype. The new one has built in air traction tires and pull-out graphite composite handle
If this case gets popular the use of "sweaty nerd" is going up 200%, minimum.
I wonder what the best case is a full tower? that cool well, is quiet and has rgb?
You can't lose with mesh. I'd never buy a case if the front fans are covered with anything except mesh.
Corsair 570x works fine?
Got this case and installed it, it looks amazing af
Actual Case Price: $130
ASUS ROG Strix Brand Price: $150
They factory overclocked the case to justify the price premium
$20 difference? cute.
The inwin case is based on was $3000...
@@WarriorProphet and?
@@WarriorProphet what model? Seriously curious
I gave a thumbs up before the video was done, just for the work done in getting case up on the table.
>buys rog case
>fills it with msi components
wanted to comment on this as I have the very overpriced NGE themed version of this case and I admit I got it due to the NGE theme and it not being a bad case in a sea of NGE cases that are all trash.....
0:35 did you just commit the gravest sin? you forgot to put the io shield
*Let me guess $100 for the case, $180 for the "ROG Strix" name*
Well its a overpriced mainstream mass produced garbage. Perfect case for its intended auidience. Kinda feel sorry for the ROG fans watching Asus devastate the ROG brand, or whatever is left of it.
I'm curious if the kind of people to spend $280 on a case would even consider an Asus case.
It's a badass case and I want one!
"So I see you can play competitive PVP... BUT DO YOU EVEN LIFT M8?"
U WOT M8
MSI video card in a ASUS case?! Sacrilege! You will hang for this, GN! Bring forth the executioner! Medieval: Total War geek revenge MOD, try it for free in another timeline! ;-))))
Almost 40lbs before you fill this thing with all the goodies... ~39.6832lbs
Great review as always =). I guess it wouldn't hurt having this much workout on every review. Any chance of reviewing Phanteks Entho Pro M and other Phanteks cases?
ROG = Regular Overpriced Garbage
GAMER gear bro!
I'm not going to argue that some ROG products are definitely overpriced, but they have many great ROG products that are actually not that bad values at all.
I've loved my Rampage IV Extreme I've been using ever since 2012, for example.
@@DMan-ud6bt yeah man i agree, the "garbage" part is mostly a joke. But obviously their AIO coolers and cases go too far for 'Gamer' brands
Mitchell M. "It's a premium brand so you pay their premium prices" ~ Bitwit 2018
@@hipnotyq I think thats not how it works it is the same card with an other design and koeling etc. Same base clock if you overclock your strix and another 1080 you will get the same results.
I love the straps on top.
These cases are made for real warriors.
Is this case overkill and overpriced?.. Yes.. Do i want it?.. Hell yes
Not a very pleasing looking case. Much prefer my c700p
Yeah and u see the chart..C700P way more ventilated and much air flow than this case
Why not phanteks evolve x ?
@@Heimdhel. I guess it is a fine case. I was just referring to my own case. Stock cooling really doesn't mean much to me as I use a costume loop.
@@craighinkle9836 nice👍👍👍, but c700p is to heavy dude, 22kg weight
Edit : did that case support Asus aura sync?
@@Heimdhel. Very heavy. Total build is about 32 kg. And it will support aura as long as your mob has an LED out so you can link it to the LED controller of the case.
Very nice video !
What do you think guys Helios or Corsair 500D RGB SE?
Corsair one. It's far better
Pretty weak Steve... Fractal Josh could lift that with the tip of his chin.
And then throw it in the garbage, and put out a Meshify S2 in its place.
using this case and loved it
Man honestly I don’t like this case. I miss caselabs :( - Steve sell me your caselabs SMA8 - please!!
I'm curious what happened to the staff and if anyone went to a company in a position where they can influence design
KillTyrant same brother. I am checking if someone can send me the schematics of SMA8 and I can get the case built by protocase. Us pc enthusiasts should start a go fund me and bring back caselabs
wow Asus first case . Look's rather clunky but I kinda like it . Needs better intake and a gpu sag bracket would be epic.
Im happy to see Asus making cases. I look forward to seeing some more cases in the future. I think they can pull it off with something better.
This kinda a test run I think and they will improve on this design
Using an MSI GPU and CPU cooler in an overpriced badly designed Asus case, Priceless :-D
I remember trying to build a PC in a micro ATX case so I could take it to places. It turned out to be heavy AF so I never moved it. When I got a GTX 1080 I had to move to an ATX case instead. Went from a Cooler Master N200 to an N300 (With acrylic window!)
It actually somehow seemed lighter after that. Probably because it wasn't so dense. Now I'm in the process of building a new one, using the Meshify C as the case. It's going to be heavier this time. I'm not going anywhere with it =P
Only a few more parts to go.
Asus: This case
Me: No
Steve do you even lift bro?
