Watching from Southeast Asia, at least European cars like these aren't really common here, so these videos do get us some ideas on how they feel, albeit on European roads.
The 5 door Fiat Punto 188 was part of my family for 15 years. My parents purchased it brand new in late 2001, it had the same 1.2L 8 valve engine with 60 PS, silver colour with 14" alloy wheels in SX trim - the license plate was also ST like the one in this video lol. I got to drive it before it was taken to the scrapyard for parts, I was still taking my drivers license back in 2016. Good memories.
I've had one in the UK for the last 4 years. Fiat Punto Mia 2001, 3dr. Really cracking little motor for the age I will say. And it's been bullet proof as far as mechanics go!

my 22 years old mk2 60hp is 265000km and i am planning a respray because the roof and hood lost varnish and has rust spots. The car is a joy to drive, cheap to run and so reliable that i wish i could keep it another 20 years. Also, everything that may go wrong is easy and cheap to do. Slow but steady and my first car and current togetjer with a mk2 panda

That is the most basic spec of a mk2 I have seen. No electric windows, no "city" steering wheel, no passenger airbag, no rpm on the instrument cluster...
My first car, drove it for 7 years until it went into Flinstone mode and rust starting to eat it rapidly - this model did not have any real protection from it. Terrible experience to drive it in a long run, that I realized after moving to something with better engine and some basic stuff that is normal now: A/C and power steering.

My mother used to had one of those, and it gives us a lot of problems with the engine. I don't recommend any 1.2 petrol engines of FIAT, because they have very bad durability and head gasket problems :(
I have the same car ( third series, restyling) since 2004, normal SCHEDULED maintenance from the factory's manual, never had a problem... currently with 195000 km.
@@MrMik394 To be honest i've got no idea, but it is true that all FIATs that my family bought (Fiat Uno 45 Brio. 999 cc FIRE Engine with 96.000 Km head gasket and compression problems, and the previous mentioned FIAT Punto 1.2 8v ELX with around 70.000 Km the same problem...) Maybe it was bad luck, i don't know :( I also want to mention that they were usually used by city.
