- On the 104th run to 8-4 and nearly 500 Lightning 4-2s in the making, I finally achieved a TRUE LOW 4:54 from 4-2 with a 44.2xx / ultrafast 8-A 8-4! The amount of runs it took to finally get this should be a true testament of how much harder a low 4:54.3xx is than a high 4:54.3xx even though the difference is only a few frames. This run's 8-4 is only 4 frames away from TAS Tie, but I'd love to eventually go for a run from 4-2 with an 8-4 at least 2 frames away from TAS Tie (an ultrafast 8-C 8-4) for a 4:54.2xx from 4-2!

@@avitaltagar5726It's more that those games it is easy to tie the TAS in comparison and have a bunch of people tied for 1st place. When a bunch of people tie the TAS it really isn't special, but in SMB1 you really need to be on point otherwise the TAS will slip through your fingers in a few frames. We went from saving a handful of frame rules years back to now being on the verge of saving every framerule and frame.

I'm pretty sure the tas inputs were brute forced, so unless some cosmic ray hit your console or pc during a run and changed 1 bit to teleport you to the end we're not improving on the tas

A TAS tie looks more likely than ever. Maybe by 2025, or somehow still in 2024, a TAS tie in this game will happen.
I honestly do not understand the mental capacity of speedrunners and especially world record holders having the pure determination to move on. It still marvels me to this day.

it's just Niftski being him. I don't see anyone else other than him getting this achievement in a relatively foreseeable future. He's just too good for video games in general. It'd take a few years after Niftski TAS tie to get another one unless someone else comes in and decides to go on a rampage.

True but generally nifitski does way more practice than runs so when he finally goes for a run he's like a well oiled machine and only takes him at most a few days

@@TheBlissfulVoid frame perfact means nothing the P bonk in smm2 is only 2 frame perfect and it,s way harder then 10 frame perfacts in GD and most frame perfects in GD aren,t that hard
also 70 frame perfects in 5 minutes is harder than 70 frame perfects in 2 minutes, but your placement is probably quite accurate, maybe it would be above acheron

@@TheBlissfulVoid im not entirely sure what to say brother, you just have no idea what you're talking about, comparing difficulty across two separate games isn't just as simple as whichever has the most frame perfects.
"frame-perfects" in gd are sort of misleading since if you're playing on 360, you have a 5-6 frame window to input a "60 fps frame perfect", which is slightly easier than doing a frame-perfect on native 60. There are also multiple buttons that need to be pressed in sequence frame perfectly, and also a lot more times that you need to press a button for exactly one frame.
If you just try to tie the TAS in the first room of 8-4, it will be pretty apparent that difficulty not just a number of frame perfect inputs. It's 7 frame perfect inputs at the start of the level, pressing L, R+A, R, nothing, R, L, R. Notably, you have to press right for one frame, left for one frame, and then right again for one frame. If you don't flip between left and right fast enough, you'll end up inputting nothing which kills the entire run. This all is to save one single frame over the much easier L, R+A, R.
there are a lot of things other than just execution of frame perfects you have to worry about. You have to keep in mind that a lot of the frame perfect setups don't actually give much of an indication that you completed them correctly. There are frames where releasing right before a flagpole glitch just makes it not possible without any visual indication.
your edge of destiny completion is very impressive, and you should be proud! But why do you think completing a hard level in geometry dash makes you the expert in comparison with a hard achievement in another game? If you're really skeptical, you can probably just ask Trick, who has completed Tidal Wave but also has a 4:56.xxx time in SMB1, because since he has knowledge of both games he'd be much better at comparing them

@@jayure1346 na, i wouldn't precisely call it uncomfortable, it would require an 8-4 which is an A to B to frame 67 to 6+0 or better, which is a lot easier than the 8-4 that he did on this video, and i think he has done that 3 times from 4-2 i believe (not counting this one), plus the fact that he's a lot more consistent at lightning 4-2 by now. of course he won't go for that anyway cuz it's far less stressful to have a smooth progression
