    I love Costco! We only go about twice a month but the savings are significant. What do you love about Costco?

      I love the convenience of shopping at Costco. I'll put it out there and say I love their samples the most, because, I mean, who doesn't right? lol. I love their kitchenware and enjoy checking out the sports equipment on display as well as the clothes apparel but one of my absolute favorite things about Costco is that they sell books. I can't even decide. I love that they offer the Costco Credit card which earns me a percentage in rewards when I spend on eligible items. Pretty much... I love everything about it :)

      The meat is fresh and seems to taste better than it does from other stores. The romaine hearts are a comparable price with most of the normal supermarkets. Salad fixings for Caesar salad (if you make it on your own) are cheaper and better quality I think at Costco. Then there's two of my favorite things to buy, tortilla chips ($4.99 CAD a huge bag) and lemon juice 2 - 1 L (?) bottles for about $4.60. The type of bread I get I can only seem to get at Costco, so I can't really compare prices on it...Oh, almost forgot their fries *dreamy smile* Cavendish fries are awesome and you can get a XL bag for between $10 & $13 dollars (like about 4 kilograms, I think for the money). Their staff are awesome like you said, I haven't had to return anything lately but when I did before it was easy and quick to do.
      Though mostly it's quality and that I'm spoiled when it comes to the quality of the things I buy at Costco

      We buy those chickens, too, and sirloin steaks, St Louis ribs, Avocado Oil, walnuts, almonds and laundry detergent ... You can't beat the price of jeans... so reasonable that I never feel guilty about buying another pair.

    Ethical beans or Salt Spring Island coffee beans. We use them for espresso at home daily. I also get 4L milk to make yogurt and latte (We don't really drink milk) and the large box of organic greens.

    I love the coffee beans, frozen fruit for smoothies, paper products, olive and avocado oils, nuts like pecans and almonds, almond flour, honey, canned tomato products. I especially love that they are getting into more organic products like the usa. Every time i want to quit my membership i am reminded of the savings and the quality you usually expect with Costco.

    I usually get a kilo of shredded roasted chicken breast, which I put into individual 100g ziplock snack bags and freeze for my lunches. I also usually get a tub of roasted cashews. I often will get a tub of cooked butter chicken as well. I live in Australia.

    Great video and I'm in awe over your Costco having a parking garage. We just let our Costco go this year and I'll see how long we can survive without what I used to love: the rotisserie chicken, the awesome giant spice containers, the potstickers, the good price on otc meds, #10 cans of tomato products for making a vat of homemade spaghetti sauce and until last year the Romaine lettuce. Hubby was only ever fond of the good price on their soda. The US Costco's did away with the Polish hot dogs which were far superior to the $1.50 ones and here too, no fries.

    • @FloLum
      @FloLum  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, Molly! You'll have to let me know how your first year goes without Costco. That would be a good show... Life without Costco. 🤔 I would definitely miss their return policy. We have a parking garage but it's $2 each time we park there. However, it's also the quieter location compared to the other 2 insane ones (like the parking lot is full by 10am and you can hardly get by people with their carts). And my sanity is worth the $2... I think, anyway.. 😉

    My Costco is only a five minute ride away so it's a little TOO easy to drop in. LOL. My reasons to shop there are their staples: paper towels, toilet paper, dishwasher and laundry detergent and such; their great meats, including their rotisserie chicken. I get my honey there as well. Been shopping at Costco since 1990. Love that place!

    We just hit our Costco up for Tri Tip, the precooked bacon, eggs and a chicken. I also bought a chicken salad kit only to realize that I needed to buy lettuce to go with it. My daughter picked up some summer reading books. We also picked up A Wrinkle in Time for 22.99 and that's the blu ray with digital copy so I thought that was a good deal.

    We have that same Salton kettle in our kitchen at work. It replaced the old kettle that finally died 4 months ago after many years of regular use. The new one works just fine, and so far hasn't died. It gets a bit of a workout, given that it services everyone on the floor, so ... . As for what do we like about our Costco, just off the top of my head I like the pharmacy dispensing fee - lowest around. Also their avocado oil, and their organic baby spinach and kale tubs. Oh, and Kirkland Nature's domain grain-free dry dog food and lamb jerky dog treats.

    I love Costco! One of my "can't live without stores." I also love the rotisserie chicken (yummy and a great deal) and they have a lot of organic produce and frozen veggies/fruits that are good. Kitchen garbage bags and dishwashing detergent and some toiletries also are much better priced at Costco. I buy books and home goods here too. Even office pens and nice clothes/shoes for the entire family. And you're right, their friendliness and customer service is awesome.

    Staples for us are baking supplies, eggs, butter (always the lowest price and will go on sale when other stores have it on sale), frozen fruit, books. When we redid our kitchen we bought all of our appliances from Costco and our cabinets. We got a great cheque back that year! Vanilla, even though when we first started buying it at Costco the Kirkland brand was only under $8. It was up to $39.99 for a 475ml bottle! Insane. It's gone down to $34.99. It is still the best price for pure vanilla extract.

But found out later there are a lot additives in there that make the chicken plump and juicy, also I always found that the chicken smelled funky the next day. Our Costco is nearly an hour away - but Sam's Club is only 6.5 miles away! And it's in a direct line with Wal-Mart & Aldi - triple play / triple WIN! We also have Meijer 2 miles down the road! Yuppers! Our chicken is only $4.98 and it's WAY better than the chickens at the grocery store.
    My Sam's Club staples are.... instant coffee (we got tired of the Keurig & Mr. Coffee breaking every 6 months!) So! Folgers instant coffee is only $9.78 for 240 cups. We don't waste any coffee either (we used to pour half pots down the drain that had gone cold). Now, we make our coffee cup-by-cup and we aren't filling the landfill with little plastic cups.
    Toilet paper at Sam's Club is only 45 cents/ per DOUBLE roll - 45 rolls for $20 (septic tank safe too!)

    What’s the conversation rate between Canadian and US dollars? The roast chicken is $4.99 in the US. It’s good for convenience, but lately I’ve been buying whole chicken. $1.99/lb for organic whole chicken is the best price I’ve seen.
    Why I go back to Costco are the on staples: oatmeal, kerrygold butter and cheese, pasture raised eggs (when available), organic eggs, peanut butter, avocado oil, olive oil, yogurt, frozen fruit, canned tuna, etc

    We love Costco and do most of our shopping there. Some of our favorites: Italian sausages, pork loin, pork back ribs, chicken thighs, bacon, Kirkland paper towel & tissues, better than bullion (veg., chicken & beef), frozen fruit for smoothies, Kirkland greek yogurt, rotisserie chicken, mushrooms, ancient grain wraps, pearl couscous, basmati rice, pasta, grape tomatoes, fresh fruit... I could go on & on. We also get clothes & shoes for my daughter & husband. We buy a lot of camping gear & stuff for our travel trailer on line. Their return policy is great and we recently had to return our 8qt Power Pressure Cooker XL because the non-stick finish on the inner pot was flaking off after only a few months & the company is out of stock of replacement pots. We replaced it with an IP Duo 8qt which we love.

      Thanks for sharing! A lot of those items are on our list too but we shop at a smaller Costco so they don't have everything that I know I can get at a Costco. I just have to get to the larger Costco nearby to get those other items. (e.g. better than bouillon, they only have chicken & veg so I pick up beef at the other location)

    We had both Costco & Sam's Club memberships but cut back & had kept Sam's. Mistake. They just closed the Sam's Club we had used for years. Costco is down the street from the old Sam's but both were/are over 25 miles to get to - so not sure its worth the trip for me. We have one other warehouse club option (that seems to be local to the Northeast only) called BJ's. We may see if thats a viable option - it is halfway between and has gas pumps too.

    Hi from Colorado. I wish that I had a Costco membership. We do have Sam's Club and yes roasted chickens are $5.

  • @TheCurlyclub
    @TheCurlyclub 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    In Australia Costco you have to put a $1 coin in the shopping cart to unlock it. So everyone returns the cart to get their $1 back.

    • @FloLum
      @FloLum  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      We have that everywhere else except Costco. The Safeway by our place decided to remove the coin devices and next thing you know, shopping carts all over the neighbourhood and the store couldn’t find them fast enough to replenish for customers. Now the coin devices have been put back on. 🙄

    I’m a big fan of my stove top kettle. :) Which did you choose, stove top or electric?
    I love Costco! I like to purchase bulk seasonings. Costco makes an organic no-salt seasoning that is delicious! I add it to scrambled eggs, chicken breasts, & soups. I also like the organic natural peanut butter too. They also have the best price on Kerrygold Butter.

    • @FloLum
      @FloLum  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! I decided to give that electric kettle a go. It’s probably safer for us to have an electric kettle that auto shuts off.

    First of all.. i've become a hardcore fan of your videos!!! Secondly, we do not get fries in the US and those look amazing. And to answer Flo's question... my Family's Costco regulars are very similar, but include oils! the extra virgin olive oil, regular cooking oil and sesame oil etc. are at a very good price.

    I'm all alone and got no car for the moment. Costco's 12 km from home. Anyway, I tend to buy lots of things I don't need on Costo. So I'm better going to IGA buy less, lose less food and spend less money on taxi. But if I was a father I'd probably go to Costco. Always appreciate you to explain WHY you do things and Dude is really a funny guy! Keep on bringing smiles on my face...

    I love Costco hot dogs. Best cheap date ever! We have a Costco Business Center near us. Buy my meat there. I get those big packs, like whole ribeyes, pork shoulder/cushion/loin roasts, chicken quarters, and the like then cut and portion them for the freezer. The business center also serves as a restaurant supply, so we can get other cool stuff. We prefer that to the regular warehouse. Less crowded.

    • @FloLum
      @FloLum  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've never heard of a Costco business centre before! They have the large whole ribeyes that I am always eying in the regular Costco too but my freezer is too small. 😕

    Costco hit list:
    Coffee beans
    Canned diced tomatoes
    Vitamins
    Kirkland moisture shampoo and conditioner (pureology)
    Kirkland protein bars
    Eggs
    Frozen salmon
    Laundry detergent (powder)
    Babybel cheese
    Chicken breast
    Prescriptions
    And more
    This year my cash back was equal to my membership so next year free shopping at Costco
    Oh, we have the hot dogs and the pizza but I want the French fries! My husband always checks the Spam but ours only carries 5he reduced fat, which as we all know isn’t really Spam.

    • @FloLum
      @FloLum  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      LOL... re: your spam comment. That cash back is another reason we keep shopping there. NO fries?!?! Which also means no Poutine. Oh... maybe you're not Canadian, so that doesn't matter to you all. 😆

    We don't have one of their stores here in my area of Arkansas, but don't know if there is one in the state. Wal-Mart is so large and since they are so numerous and in my area I love going there instead. I miss having a Kroger's or a Safeway like we use to have years ago.

      I think there is still a Sam's Club in Little Rock, and I have to go shopping there. I usually end up at Little Rock AFB in Jacksonville since it is the closest military base and they have all of what I usually shop for in their base exchange.

    Today's trip to Costco yielded the usual items that keep me going back: coffee, sodas, produce, toilet paper, Kleenex, detergents, fabric softener, etc... but, most importantly, bacon!

    • @FloLum
      @FloLum  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bacon!!! We used to buy the precooked ones that only needed to be nuked for a minute. But that was too dangerous to have in the house. Now we’ve gone back to multi-packaged ones because THAT’s not dangerous at all. 😆

    Costco has a great selection of nut products. Used to love the trail mix but they started making it with giant M&M candy. We prefer the Smartie size pieces, so we compromise and remove the M&M and add Smarties. Feel the recipe change might be much higher calorie because of the increase in raisins. Used to love the TP but now it’s thinner and disintegrates when wiping. Not as keen on it. I want to sign on to a petition to bring back better TP. I love buying Keto Granola and will drive there to stock up on a few bags. (Inna Foods). I like their individually wrapped paper towels. I also buy their Almond butter and canned fish products. Our family favourite are the frozen Fajitas. I don’t buy vegetables there because the portions are too large for our family of three.
