Great reaction! In this video, Amira was 11 years old and was walking with her father in neighboring Belgium. There is a large community of Dutch speakers there. Belgium was able to vote together with the Netherlands in the HGT, which Amira won. Vincent van Hessen is a Dutchman who sings on the streets of Europe. He is classically trained in playing the guitar. He was singing Ave Maria and Amira liked it very much and asked her father to sing with him on the guitar. He almost refused because he didn't have much patience for wannabe girls who asked him to sing (no talent). When he heard her father call her Amira, he recognized her because he watched HGT because of Amira. Thrilled, he had to concentrate hard to play. When Amira started singing, he got scared and I understand. Anyone who's had the chance to stand next to a real soprano (like Amira) and see her break into song knows that it's so, so, so loud and powerful. Vincent's channel had an average of 400 views per video. When he published Amira's video, it went viral and quickly reached nearly 4 million views. Amira changed his life. From then on he was invited for TV and radio interviews, he was invited to perform at concerts and events, he was invited to record an album. After all, he had Amira's powerful stamp on him. To this day Vincent takes part in festivals and has never forgotten the day he played solo for the greatest soprano of all time.
Thanks, I knew this was an impromptu event but was not aware of the details and especially how it all turned out for Vincent.

That was awsome
Vincent wrote a lovely piece about Amira beneath this video which is on his TH-cam channel..
He's a fabulous busker.. watch some of his other videos.
Dear Paul, thank you for all your wonderful reactions to my favorite singer. Just in case you haven't read the story behind this performance, here is what Vincent van Hessen wrote about it:
Hi, my name is Vincent van Hessen and I'm a professional musician. I play venues such as clubs, festivals, cruise ships but first and foremost, I predominantly street perform. Street performing gives the artist direct contact with a crowd of people that willfully chooses to listen and watch a spectacle because the opportunity presents itself, and not because of a pre-planned agreement such as attending a concert on any given occasion. ... On Sunday, June 21st, 2015, a random bearded man approached me, while I was singing a medley of 'Sexual healing/Ave Maria/Blowing in the wind'. (Marvin Gaye/J.S. Bach/Bob Dylan). I decided to disregarded him and just kept singing, because I wasn't planning to stop a song because someone so much needs the attention at that particular moment, while about 50 other people are enjoying the music. Well, he waited politely, standing there, very close to me, and when I finished the medley he said: "I have a young star here and she'd like to sing with you!!!" My thought was: "oh, another one of these wannabe's..." I answered: "Look, man! I'm in a middle of a show here, let's do it later! (hoping he would get lost)", but he insisted: " No mister, she's awesome, you won't regret it. it's a once in a lifetime chance, and she'd like to do the 'Ave Maria' with you, as you have performed it a minute ago." While I thought:" From all songs, the wannabe would like to do the 'Ave Maria?" This went on for a few minutes till I finally agreed, and said reluctantly: "Bring her over!". I saw a little girl, sweet looking, a little shy, she said hello politely and I asked, curiously in which key she would like to perform the Ave Maria'. She consulted her father in Dutch for a minute, wondering whether the key was F or G, and her father replied: "Amira, best if you do it in G!" And that's when it hit me, pretty much like lightning, who I was dealing with...
I had seen Amira Willighagen on the Dutch TV in the talent show 'Hollands got talent', a few years prior to this occasion, and as a classically trained guitarist, who knows a thing or two about classical music, I was very very impressed and taken aback by her talent, to say the least, so my heart thumped, it maybe even stood still for a second, but I knew I will just have to do it now, a 'do or die' kind of situation, to perform a song with an ultra-talented singer of 11 years old...
I must add, after having adjusted the mic stand to her hight and then hitting the first few notes on my guitar, hearing Amira sing, I was so taken aback, I had to focus really hard on my guitar playing because I was so awestruck by the power of her voice.
The video was shot by a friend of mine, but unfortunately, his I- Phone had no more memory space, so it cut 20 seconds prior to the last 'Amen' in the 'Ave Maria', so with the aid of another friend, we edited a different end, because luckily, there were around 200 people standing around us, watching and listening, in absolute amazement to this spectacle we incidentally created, on the streets of Brussels city centre, while quite a few of them were filming this 'once in a lifetime' opportunity, on that windy and chilly Sunday, early in the afternoon, June 2015 in Brussels Belgium.
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Great reaction ! This casual street performance took place in Brussels (in my opinion, in a square near La grande place, or maybe near Le Mont des Arts). Anyway, Amira is able to play anywhere, like Edith Piaf did almost a century ago... We have a wonderful city, a seasoned guitarist, and of course the most angelic voice on this planet. Pure magic, and so moving...
I also believe it's on the Grand Place, next to the Hotel de Ville and a comfortable 5-minute walk to the Central Station.
Spur of the moment. Always beautiful
I was going to say, read Vincent's comment that went with the video - but Jorge has stated the gist of it . . .
The jump of shot at the end is because Vincent's friend, who was recording the piece on his phone, ran out of battery. He had to borrow an ending from someone else and edit it on. Apparantly there was a large crowd of about 200 behind the camera, all intrigued and enjoying the music.
Thank you, Paul. I've looked forward to this for a long time. Can't really add further comments as everything has been said below. I know you don't take any notice of the comments, but as far as I know you haven't played the full Living Maths Interview.
I do take notice of the comments. I read every single one. I read them differently than you do, because I read them in TH-cam Studio rather than in each individual video. Did I miss something? What is the Living Mathis interview?
@@paulschmehl2124 . I don't know why it's called living maths, but Amira was 13 and I think it was a TV interview. Too long for a reaction perhaps but I'm sure you would enjoy it personally (biographically interesting). Best wishes, Joe.

Very good reaction, I completely agree with You..But an incomprehension to see passers-by absolutely indifferent to this incredible and wonderful rendition...How can some people be so insensitive at this point ??......🐢🐢
When Amira was singing on the street with streetperformer Vincent van Hessen, 200 people were watching Amira sing on the other side of the camera. I know because Vincent van Hessen wrote about his performance with Amira. P.s. Some people have to catch a bus or have an timed appointment with someone, not every one has time to stop for a street performance. In Dublin for example there are so many streetperformers most people have seen them perform every weekend so they walk by as well.
