Just stumbled upon this channel. Amazing teaching of the Yoruba language. Proper break down of how the grammar works and you also speak English language with a fantastic accent. Well done Aderonke!
I agree with what you say at 17:50 Adérónké. Otherwise there would not be the worshipping of Orisa in Brazil. I'm white and Brazilian, and everyday in the morning I pray in Yoruba to Orí mí, Bàbá Èsù, Ìyá mi Ìyá Orí Yeye omo ejá and lastly, but certainly not LEAST, to Ìyá mí Oshun. I make small offerings to them. And my life has been very blessed. Christian God never listened to my prayers. But Yoruba divinities - They're REAL and very much ALIVE. Eledumarè bless you. Keep up the good work.
Aboru Aboye Ekaaro Odaabo Odarro My beautiful Goddess Princess excellent teacher I wish you could of teach me this Yoruba language one on one I have so much questions I feel so connected to IFA and the seven Orissa's my Destiny is Babalawo Ooo one love Ase beeni
20:00 interesting, my barber's name is Atorise, I've never heard that name before and I didn't know the meaning, but maybe this can help me understand it...or I could just ask him, lol
Good job. But why not present in Yoruba? I understand you may want to reach a wider audience, but anyone who understands these proverbs, I believe such ppl will understand Yoruba
I appreciate that she presents this as it is, and yes it is more accessible to me as a non-native speaker, I can appreciate more the learning of Yoruba and culture hand in hand. I don’t have to fully understand the language 100% before I can appreciate the beauty of Yoruba proverbs.
Thank you, Aderonke. When you mentioned Lakshmi, I couldn't help but think of this TH-cam playlist by Mama Zogbe. Her research has shown that most, if not all, of the female deities in ancient history are based on African women who once actually walked the earth. Many of them were Sybils, or Prophetesses, and were often called on to foresee future events. If you've heard of the Oracle of Delphi, she was one of these women. The film series Matrix cast two Black women in the role of the Oracle. The first actress died, and was replaced by a second Black actress. Mama Zogbe tells a very interesting, and mostly untold, story about what may be an entirely different history than what we've been taught. th-cam.com/play/PL3QqwUK6YUqjOZ1QZIbTZ4MKPnWmynj9E.html
