You are fortunate to have access to this sort of fishing and you are aware of this; rare combination. I believe I'm geographically situated not so far from you and I too have just put up my striped bass gear until March of next year. If I wanted to get in some late season trout fishing the only place I'd think to turn would be, at minimum, some 90 miles north/northwest of me. There are tiny trickles and brook trout streams which hold native brook and some wild brown trout. The one stream where I'd go is north of Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, where in the early 1900s some prescient individuals seeded the stream with browns. Those browns are some voracious feeders. During a downpour in the late '80s I caught two brown trout when the stream level had risen about a foot as I was fishing (this mountain stream is the drainage/watershed between two mountains). I kept the two brown trout for the table and upon cleaning them, prior to putting them on ice, I found brook trout fingerlings in their stomachs. How these two species have existed side-by-side in the nearly fifty years (and doubtless longer than that) that I have been fishing for 'em is beyond me. What's really fascinating to me is that you're catching these trout right in the midst of bustling civilization. Best wishes.
That's so funny, my mom lives a block away from those ponds. I've always seen tons of trout in them, and it was a perfect day to fish because people will give you a giant hairy eyeball for fishing in them. Awesome video man

Hey man, I love your videos! I watch them as I love to fish saltwater but rarely get to as I live in the Black Hills of South Dakota. That means i'm REALLY familiar with trout haha. One way to I.D a stocked trout is to look at their fins, particularly their pectoral fins. Stocked fishes' fins will be worn down around the edges. The color of stocked fish is usually pretty bland as well.
the last fish I caught was decent 8 lb wild bull trout on salmon roe. of course you don't live in British Columbia, but those are some nice wild brown trout.

I saw this video and thought of Colgate U. in Hamilton, NY in the central part of the state. There is a central pond with a connected Payne Brook. I only saw LMB while I was there, but it turns out the brook is stocked w/ trout, so who knows?

The trout they stock where I live average 2-3 pounds. And the hatchery they come from puts them in tanks with high current so they become extremely strong

this has nothing to do with trout and more to do with tackle marketing. I have thrown spinner baits(Bass)for hundreds of hours. MOST lures are made to attract fishermen more than they attract fish. the spinner bait thing I started to talk about involves umbrella rigs, DO they catch Bass when a standard spinner bait fails? I know that umbrella rigs are very popular in salt water. the umbrella rig for seemed to be an elaborate spinner bait. seems like they may be prone to loss, more sales. JUST some thoughts. BY the BY, pectoral fins on stocker trout are clipped as an identifying mark, your fish seem to be unblemished.
lol "western maryland" looks an awful lot like cedar beach in allentown pa.....you are allowed fo fish here just not over by the rose garden side where you walked down to but there is another gem if you follow the current, back the other way about a 3-5 min walk its called Union Terrace pond/creek, (UT) as we call it. really good fishing there by the hump bridge.
You pronounced Rapala correctly.. :) Very cool spot. I also live in Jersey and can only catch natives in the Black River. I would love to know the location of this spot but I know the rules.. I'll find it on my own maybe. They haven't stocked browns in NJ for 3 years now, so the big ones could have been hold overs.

I keep saying I'm going to start making vids but as of yet I still havent. not trying to critique just an fyi. the only trout native to Pa is the brook trout and its rare these days to find true natives. trout that are born in the wild but at one time came from stocked trout are called wild trout. brown trout are not even native to the usa, they were brought over from europe. not that it really matters just thought you might want to know. also those ponds are fed from underground springs which keeps them cool enough all year to support a population of trout. keep up the good vids maybe someday soon you can watch some of mine. thanks
Yes, but the brutal weather makes it difficult to render especially if you already had your fair share of fun like we have. The docks are freezing up, waters off and outboard pissers are frozen. Still fish moving through though.
As recently as last Friday I caught three over a four hour period on Island Beach State Park. They were busting on something way over the bar but the stiff west wind added 50 feet to my normal casting range. I caught the bass on a 7" Tsunami Talking popper which really sailed out there that day.

I have a question do you kinda scope out most of your own stripper spots where you think would be good and how do you choose a good spot or do you go off tips for other guys I live in jersey and have just started stripper fishing last year learned everything I know so far from you only know jetty spots any tips?
When you say "native" do you mean wild? Because brown trout are native to Western Europe. A native trout to the NJ, NY, and PA region would be a brook trout. There are wild browns in that region which means that they aren't stocked, but they originally came from European brown trout stocked hundreds of years ago. I don't know much about the fish and game in the eastern states but I'm pretty sure that some of those browns are not even wild and we're recently stocked.

The floating Rapala catches about anything. Since my childhood, it's been a favorite and a "go-to" lure when others don't produce.

usually a stocked trout will have a part of their lower fin ( close to their head ) cut by DNR for marking
depends really, adipose fin may also be cut off. Pectoral fins are usually fully cut off, if you cut of only a little bit it will grow back

Try not to use treble hooks for trout if you are releasing. Use flies with pinched barbs to release healthy. Looks like a fun spot.
