One of my most favourite Dan covers, often it will pop right into my head for no reason and I hear Dan inside my head singing this,, hauntingly beautiful.. Thank you for another great reaction
This song always i cry. Dan is awesome and this music very strong, this song talks about winning. And Dan overcame depression after the death of his father. I didn't have depression after the death of my father, but I overcame the mourning that today has become a huge lack transformed into longing. tks dear
Dan said in one of his comments that not all tears are sad. These lyrics are about struggle, but a struggle that, like all others, leads to the light. Looking at the lyrics, I know that Dan went through a period of depression years ago (but came out of it stronger), which gives this song a deeper meaning than it already has. His emotions are breathtaking because they are very real here. He has a masterful voice. Thank you for your reaction. This song always brings tears to my eyes.If you haven't heard Dan's American Trilogy, give it a listen, but take a box of tissues with you. His father was a fan of Elvis Presley, he said. He sang this song a week after his father died
Thanks for your lovely, thoughtful reaction. Beautiful song, beautiful accompaniment, and gorgeous, emotional singing. I think that was a High C at the end?
"Son Of Pain" While I crossed the mountainside I recalled a memory Days of anguish nights of pain Your voice lives on trapped inside my mind Eternally Those wise last words fade in my soul "You had the choice, you chose the light Find your way Darklands' son Spread your wings then your heart will fly" Thank you, angels I am now reborn This may be my last breath And my final day I'm the son of pain Welcome my new fate Hell's lost flame was life for me In that moment I felt free I was under an evil spell So now I want just to live again To live again I am proud, proud to lead my soul To new horizons, to the golden sky "Find your way my brave Darklands' son Wizards, kings, elves and trolls" Thank you, angels I am now reborn This may be my last breath And my final day I'm the son of pain Welcome my new fate Thunder gods I pray I deny hell's flames
I agree that while very sad and deeoly emotional, this song is a story about winning! The story is about a terrible struggle of a dying man (or whatever he's supposed to be in this fantasy songs realm) who had been lead astray to commit damning crimes so knows he is facing eternal hell. His sorrowful regrets and longing for redemption touches the hearts of the angels who lead him to his souls salvation. In the end, in his big moment of triumph, he wins back his soul from hell. That's a sad song with a gloriously uplifting ending. At least that's my take on it, lol! 😊
I always find this song difficult to listen to. Dan shows so much emotion during this performance and is very different from most of his other songs that are very uplifting. Having said that I think he does an excellent job, as always, with the lyrics and shows another facet of his unequivocal talent for interpretation of a song. Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts and have a blessed Christmas my friend. 🎶🌟🎶
This is a song of triumph, too. Dargor is wandering alone in the wilderness, almost dies and takes the Angels hands to become the greatest of heroes, instead of the general of the armies of chaos.
I love this song sung by Dan and today was the first time I looked up the original version done by Rhapsody of Fire. It blew me away how Dan was able to make his voice sound so close to the original singer but he still sounds like Dan, adding that grit and emotion in his own unique way. Made me appreciate Dan’s vocal abilities in a fresh way.
Thanks for reacting to our Dan! As always it’s a fantastic video. Please do a reaction video of Dan’s power metal cover of Rolling In The Deep (Adele). He takes it to a whole new level and it’s just fantastic! #VascNation 🎉
I must tell you about another song Dan does that sounds close to the original…actually, in my opinion Dan improves on it. Highly recommend “For All”. I’ve listened to it thousands of times, not even kidding. I love every note and think it deserves more views than it has so I’m “being the change I want to see in the world.” Note: “A Hero for the World” also plays the keyboard in “For All” and there’s an epic guitar solo done by Dan’s good buddy since childhood, Gabriel, who is also part of the band “Fearless” that makes it sound like the guitar is weeping or praying or something. 🎸Amazing. Give it a listen if you’re curious to hear it.
Thev song is from the Hobbit I think. I think it is about a man who made some poor choices in the past, but now he has chosen to move towards the light. The struggle was painful but summed up by the lyrics as he sings “ I am proud to lead my soul to a better place..
There's no music video for this song, not even a decent quality live, so if we're going into Rhapsody, better try Emerald Sword at Montreal, Magic of a Wizard's Dream or Perfect singing demonstration + Unholly Warcry from Wacken. The main difference between this version and the original is the extra emotional intensity, Dan can sound so much like young Fabio Lione it's weird at times!
Great reaction, Philip. 😀 If you'd like to find out more about Jacob Kaasgard (who represents his family band "A Hero for the World"), you can find him/them at: www.youtube.com/@AHeroForTheWorld Also, ON that channel (which is only updated through three years ago), you can find a full playlist of ALL the music on the channel: th-cam.com/video/8zCr28tJ-yw/w-d-xo.html

Can't show more emotion than that.
Wow, Dan Vasc versteht sein Handwerk. So emotional und warm, zugleich so stark und verletzlich. ❤

"Son Of Pain"
While I crossed the mountainside
I recalled a memory
Days of anguish nights of pain
Your voice lives on trapped inside my mind
Eternally
Those wise last words fade in my soul
"You had the choice, you chose the light
Find your way Darklands' son
Spread your wings then your heart will fly"
Thank you, angels
I am now reborn
This may be my last breath
And my final day
I'm the son of pain
Welcome my new fate
Hell's lost flame was life for me
In that moment I felt free
I was under an evil spell
So now I want just to live again
To live again
I am proud, proud to lead my soul
To new horizons, to the golden sky
"Find your way my brave Darklands' son
Wizards, kings, elves and trolls"
Thank you, angels
I am now reborn
This may be my last breath
And my final day
I'm the son of pain
Welcome my new fate
Thunder gods I pray
I deny hell's flames
