Someone out there is going to really benefit from this video. I'm in the fortunate position that the correct number of bikes is N+1. That said, I do currently just have my 2008 Triax Crimson. A commendable commuter and useful for shopping. I'm considering a Giant Defy.
Be interested in any update MC, on how it goes. I am picking up a Giant Defy in a few months, most I've ever spent on a bike 😮 and will be looking to sell my 2015 Trek Domane 5.2. I still have an older Focus Cayo that I'll be keeping as my commuter bike. I asked my LBS best place to sell and they said Facebook Marketplace. I was hoping they would be willing to take it off my hands...
I will do an update video (or maybe a short) if it does / doesn’t sell. It’s crazy that FB is the only real option these days. I feel like there is an opportunity here.
@@ModerateCyclist that geometry pic that you put up seems like it IS the top tube, so quite possibly different manufacturers will use one or the other!!
@@ModerateCyclist I just checked my own BMC teammachine size 54 on geometry geeks ... not a single damn measurement is 54cm! The seat tube length is 504mm, the effective top tube length -- which is the _horizontal_ measurement from centre of head tube to the centre of the seat post _where it intersects that horizontal_ -- is 549mm, the stack is 550mm ... its all over the shop.

You must be humming along nicely mate. I feel like it’s time. Giant Defy is a great. 105 is solid value.
Apparently in our household the n+1 formula refers to the number of cats.

i thought the measurement was the seat tube length?
Actually I think you are right. My bad. I will put a note in the video.

A lot of videos suggest seat tube 🤷♂️. I have added a correction link into the video. Thanks for pointing it out.
