Had some of these dig under my fence and get into my property, mostly tore up a bunch of roots. Haven't seen them since. Glad your helping reduce this population. People who are not from Texas don't understand how invasive these have become.
Oh yeah, ain't that the truth. I live in Hays County, just west of the Balcones Escarpment. They've bounties on those things here! You take a tail in, and you get paid. Best of all, you get to keep the meat.
I was in the air force in Abilene '78-82. There were chipmunks on base, and armadillos at the apartment complex where I lived, but I had never seen any in Georgia until recently. I have chipmunk borrows all around my house in the Atlanta suburbs and an armadillo has been digging in my garden. We have plenty of deer, but luckily the pigs haven't made their way north yet. I have seen them 100 miles south of me though.
I'm from Florida and I DO know how invasive they are. Friends of ours lost a 5 acre strawberry field in 3 nights. I went out one day to see what the dog's were barking at only to have to see a boar that was one square under the 5ft wire livestock fence, trying to get in. His headstone would have read "Wilbur, to nosey for his own good".
they are a big problem in florida too. even in the middle of tampa. one of the hospitals out there have pig traps right behind the tree line but they look like they dont catch them with them. they are big box traps.
Years ago I played call of duty online with a player named Hoghunter. He was in Texas. He would catch the wild hogs and make sausage out of them. I just learned that he died in 2023. Rip Hoghunter. Miss your laugh!

He’s just keeping up. I think there is some federal or state land that they won’t allow him to trap on, so the hogs just breed wildly and then move over to that hunting club where he does a lot of his trapping. So, he has a never-ending supply of hogs to trap.
You are a pretty smart man. Getting those young fella's to load them hogs. Those hogs are so destructive. I only have one serious experience.....in Missouri....10 years ago. Middle of a downpour rain headed to a campsite, and this huge hog came running across the 4 lane I was traveling. I was in a 2007 Toyota Highlander.....this Hog was as tall as the front of my SUV. It was so fast and came out quick, but so thankful it spun around and went the other direction, It would have surely totaled my vehicle. These wild hogs make me nervous in areas we are hiking as well. They are so aggressive and destructive.
I ALWAYS look forward to Sunday videos from y'all! The devotionals bring peace for me. And then I get a peak into your world and myself and my grandsons love these videos! I've explained to them that these hogs are trouble for families and farmers. And doing what Mr.David does, he helps take care of the hogs to stop destroying property and crops and he also feeds so many families with this. Now they understand why you do this and they wait for Sundays with Grandma! Love these videos!!
Absolutely another spectacular beautiful shooting filming footage compilation adventure and thanks again David and have a wonderful blessing weekend ! ..
I used to help out at the hog station locally when trappers brought them in live to be weighed. The station paid per pound and size for all turned in. The processor came by every Friday and collected them. The meat was then sold in Europe and at the time they were getting around $50/lb. It's a delicacy in some places over there. His holding pen was around 75 foot diameter with a shute with a weight scale that had 2 doors so he could weigh each hog. One trapper, I remember got his leg near torn off trying to get the hog out of his trap and into his truck for transport to the station. That protruding appendage off the snout is sharp enough to cut flesh. They are very dangerous and more so when trapped. The traps they used had one way doors with bait inside. Hogs have a very good sense of smell and seek out the bait and circle the trap until they found the opening. It was an interesting experience dealing with these critters. I brought two little baby feral hogs to my daughter to play with that were the size of a puppy. Very cute when young but very dangerous when adult. Some locals have used the meat themselves for BBQ. I've never eaten any feral myself.
I read an article in the past year of a farm family whose son raised a baby boar that they found. It was adorable and behaved like a dog for years, and then one day it reverted to wild and attacked their son and almost killed him. Needless to say the boar did not survive the day. Even domestic hogs can be dangerous, so it's best to always keep that in mind.
@@helenm6732. Just remember, the animal will taste like what ever they eat. And a high percentage of the time they eat stuff that isn’t considered food.
