Hey instead of using the extra tripod mount to use on top of the baseplate you think a battery grip would work? I think they are like 50 bucks for a knock off brand but you would get twice the battery life!

+ELECTRICLIFE01 Maybe - I haven't tried out a battery grip for the a6000 yet, but it's possible it would work.

any tips on removing a port that is stuck on?

I'd seal the housing, then dunk it in a bucket of fresh water and move it around for 30 seconds.
That should help dislodge any sand or salt deposits that could be jamming up the port threads.
Then dry it off and open it up before trying to remove the port. Chuck a towel over the port and try and get some good leverage on it.
I've never had a port that stuck after doing that, so not sure what I'd try if it didn't budge.

+NX-500 REVIEW There's a photo of the a6000 inside the housing on this page: www.learningsurfphotography.com/sony-a6000-water-housing/5/
The NX 500 is smaller than the a6000 so it will fit inside fine, I'm not sure about the connector for the shutter release or how the lens will line up though.

Is there a housing of sony a5000?

      There's a Meikon housing for the Sony a5000: amzn.to/2jrVKek
It's designed for diving but I've used my Meikon housing for the a6000 in surf. It's not ideal as it doesn't have a pistol grip or interchangeable ports for different lenses.
If you want to get a surf style housing for the a5000 I'd definitely recommend getting hold of a second hand a6000 instead and getting a housing for that as they're much more easily available from a variety of manufacturers.
